"What?" I asked with a fake smile. This must be a joke, it has to be.
"God! It's been so long Ryan!" Melchie added and placed her hand on Ryan's cheek, looking at him in a daze.
"Melchie, did you, uhm, did you meet Silver? She's been waiting for you." I said, still at a lost.
Melchie smacked her palm on her forehead, finally coming out from her trance.
"Shit! I didn't! I'll go and meet her right away or else she'll kill me!" Melchie said and left the room, giving Ryan one last smile.
"What's going on?" I asked as soon as she left the room.
"Jen, look I can explain." Ryan said and held my hands in his.
"Please do, Ryan. Why is she calling you her boyfriend?" I asked in turmoil.
"Jen, I-" He started to say and then stopped. He looked like he didn't know what to say.
"Is everything ok?" I am starting to have a bad feeling about this.
He sighed and held my hand tightly.
"Jen, we used to date." What?
"Jen, I love you. I really-"
"But you said that you had never dated anyone." I cut him off, I let go of his hands and they slipped out of my grasp.
I'm not his first and he lied to me. I took a step away.
"I was going to tell you about this but-"
"Is she the only one you had dated?" I asked, the tears were starting to build up and I don't think I could hold it in there any longer.
"No."
"How many girls did you date?" I wanted to know.
"Jen, it doesn't really matter because now you're the only one I love."
"How many?" I pressed.
He stared back at me for a while then looked away as if he was embarrassed. "Seven."
I laughed half-heartedly.
"And did you tell the each of them the same thing? That you had never dated anyone?" I asked.
"Yeah but-" Ryan started to say and inched closer to me.
"Don't." I warned and he stopped.
"You were lying to me the whole time? Everything you did was an act." I now realise everything. I should've known. Why would a hot guy be chasing me when he could have millions of girls who are better looking than me?
I looked at the rose I was still clutching on to. The symbol of love.
"I wonder how many roses have you given to your previous girlfriends?!" I said in anger and threw it on the floor.
"Jen, I swear. I've never loved any of them. You're my first."
"Can you stop it, Ryan?! Seriously stop it! Why? Why did you do this to me?." The stupid tears started to escape from my eyes, showing him how weak I am.
"This might be entertaining to you but it's hurting me. I was not the one who came up to you and I wasn't the one who said that I'm in love with you, you were! and I'm so fucking stupid for believing every single thing you ever said to me."
"Jen!" I heard footsteps getting louder and I turned my back to Ryan and the door immediately and wiped the tears away from my cheeks. I forged a smile and faced my cousin.
"Hey sis!" I said and hugged her tightly.
"I had missed you so damn much." I said.
"Me too!" She said and swooned sideways.
