Ryan's POV:

I waited outside Jen's house. Man, where is she? I told her to come after one hour. She's ten minutes late! I turned up the volume and listened to Drake as I waited for her. She should be out any moment.

I might as well ask her out for shopping today. Dad gave me some cash to buy the stuff I need for the party and he added double for Jen to buy the stuff she needed as well. She'll be happy to know that Dad already likes her. He had started liking her from the time I mentioned that I was going to quit smoking for Jen. He told me that she was a positive influence for me. She is, actually.

There was a knock on the window of my car. I looked at the person and my breath got stuck in my throat. It was Jen's mother. I lowered the volume of the music and then I lowered the window and greeted her politely. I need to leave a good impression on her.

"Good morning. Are you waiting for someone?" She asked skeptically and I went silent. I had no idea how to answer her. Oh, yeah. I was just waiting for your daughter, Jen.

At that instant, I saw Silver run up to my car. She pushed her mother a little and peeked in the window and gave me a big grin. "Oh, you're here!" She yelled and I frowned. What is going on?

"Mom, he's here." She looked at her mother but all her mother did was ask "Who is he?" I decided to come out of the car as it felt disrespectful to have Jen's mother lean down to talk to me.

I got out of the car and slammed the door close. "Mom!" Silver gave her mother a look and I just stood at the opposite side of the car with my hands clasped on the window sill like I was some kind of a third wheel between the mother - daughter duo.

I saw Silver whisper something in her mother's ear and her mother's expression changed. "Oh really?" She clapped her hands together delightfully.

"Come on in, Ryan." Jen's mother beamed at me. "I am sorry?" I must have heard her wrong. Why is she welcoming me into her house? I am her daughter's boyfriend! I remember Jen had once told me that her mother hates it when her daughters roam around with boys. I looked at Silver and received a glare from her. She telepathically told me to listen to her mother.

I had no choice. I walked toward her mother obediently and she led me into her house. It felt kind of funny because her mother was kind of short or was it because I was too tall?

"So, Ryan. Silver told me you came to Canada recently." She said, her voice as sweet as honey. "Yeah, I mean yes. I came here in last month."

"Well, I'm glad you came. How about you sit on the couch and I'll prepare something for you. Jen hadn't had her breakfast yet. Why don't you eat breakfast with us?"

"Uh, no ma'am. You don't have to bother." I stood up but was forced to sit back down by Silver. She glared at me and smiled at her mother. "Mom, you go ahead and make breakfast. I'll call Jen downstairs." Her mother gave us a smile and disappeared into the kitchen.

I quickly looked over at Silver and asked "What the fuck is going on? Why am I inside Jen's house?" This is very, very bizarre for me. I was more than happy to have Jen come over to my home because she is a polite and a sweet girl who has the ability to charm people with her facial expressions and her words but I have no idea how to sit or how to communicate with Jen's parents. I am so messed up that I have to repeat a dialogue mentally to myself before saying it out so that I don't leave a bad impression on them or so that I don't accidentally swear infront of them.

"I told Mom that Jen's Christmas Ball is coming up and there is a guy who wants to take her out."

"Yeah, okay. I get that part but I don't get why she is actually happy to see me. Jen said that her mother would kill her if she finds out that she was dating anyone."
