"Chitter-chitter."
-Random Daemon Fiend that ate the Radio Host
-Nineteenth of Maximum Messis
Charred metal and flaming artifacts scattered the ground in the field, lighting up the early morning hours of that fateful Monday morning, dotting the landscape like stars in the nighttime sky. A dust storm was blowing in from the horizon.
The dusty ground of Shiloh was littered with the disgusting corpses of daemon fiends and the mutilated remains of the military population. Blood pooled up in some spots, saturating the soil with enough of the liquid for generations to come. Bones were sparsely scattered, hinting their use as toys for the fiends.
"Kaitlyn!" Daniel yelled, pushing a large slab of metal off of his body, causing it to fall onto the ground with a loud thump. "Kaitlyn!"
A piece of metal shifted in the rubble, a hand slowly rising up from the smoking pile of steel. It's blackened fingers shined with the scarlet, fingernails chipped and broken.
"Kaitlyn!" he yelled, rushing towards the shifting plates of the now destroyed ship.
At that moment, the dust storm reached the remains of the drop ship, kicking up sand and soil into the air at high speeds. Daniel covered his mouth and eyes as best as he could, digging through the rubble to find Kaitlyn.
After a few fateful moments of shifting the charred remains of the ship around, he found her... a beam impaling her leg.
"Kaitlyn! Your leg!" Daniel yelled, grabbing onto the piece.
"Dan... Daniel don't..." she rasped, trying to move, but failing to do so. "Don't... pull it out. I'll bleed... out."
Kaitlyn started coughing.
"Daniel... we need to find... a medic or... something..."
Daniel nodded... kneeling down to her body with a single tear streaming down his face.
I cannot let her know of my weakness... Daniel thought to himself. I need to save her.
He gently picked her up, taking care to not move the metal bar that impaled her leg. Looking around, not even able to see a few feet in front of him, he found a small trail of flares leading away from the crash site. Well... more like small lights, as he couldn't even make out their forms.
Maybe the twins survived and are trying to lead us to them...
Daniel looked down at Kaitlyn, who was now looking straight up in the sky, dealing with the pain as best as she could.
"Don't close your eyes," Daniel said to her quietly. "If you sleep, you could die."
"I... know," she replied.
Daniel nodded, and looking towards the flares, he started following them.
They twisted and turned a path between piles of flaming metal and charred artifacts. He contemplated where the twins were, dismissing their conditions.
They should be fine... and maybe this made them sane.
Following the flares, he came up to a small building that was partially destroyed. The roof was caved in on one side, and the second floor partially spilled onto the first, making a coincidental ramp. Flares lead up the ramp, and blood was smeared on the walls.
Upstairs, he could hear muffled psychotic ramblings a certain nature. He believed it could be one of the twins. He shook his head, looking down at Kaitlyn to make sure she was okay. He put two fingers to her neck to make sure she had a pulse, and smiled when she did, continuing his task.
He made it up the ramp and turned the corner. The ramblings stopped.
He saw Hanz on the ground... eyes opened and white, his face pale and veins blue, wrapping around his neck. Franz had a note on his lap, and was holding a magneto-pistol to his head.
CRACK!
Franz's head exploded all over the place, grey matter flying everywhere.
Daniel stopped. He turned and gagged for a moment before his eyes opened wide, heart beating and stomach churning. He looked down at Kaitlyn, who was white in fear.
He put her down gently, making sure not to move the metal bar in her leg and looked over to Franz's lap, eyeing a note that lay on top of it.
Daniel picked it up, and looked over it.
We've failed. The Historical Order failed. Everyone on Shiloh failed. You haven't. You need to save everyone. It's up to you. I don't know what you saw, know, or feel, but you are the only one I assume that knows everything.
Take this pistol that lay in my hand, and with it save everyone. There are four regular shells in the casing. I have a magazine of peroxide, and two more of regular. Make due with what you can.
There's a medical kit in the other room. Do what you need to do.
Take care forever.
Daniel started to tear up. Laiful ruined life as it is. He is trying to recreate his race and destroy humanity. He is trying to recreate the galaxy in his own image.
He must be stopped at all costs.
