"We've failed. The Historical Order failed. Everyone on Shiloh failed. You haven't."

Daniel looked over to the corridor, then looked back at Kaitlyn. He frowned, walking into the other room and turning on the flashlight on the magneto-pistol. He shined it all over, looking for anything valuable.

Spent shell casings, a nude magazine... and... the med kit.

He walked over to the medical kit and opened it up.

Three gauze bandage rolls, a half bottle of pain killers, a clean rag, some peroxide, and... a full tube of Cake!

     Wait... what is Cake?

Daniel picked up the tube and looked at the back.

Cake the Cake™ on the open wound. Cake™ will form a makeshift scab and help speed-up the healing process!

Daniel shrugged, closing the medical kit and picked it up. He checked the area once more for anything of use before carefully walking back to Kaitlyn.

Her once rosy face was now drained, blue veins forcing themselves outside of the skin on her neck. Her chest rose slowly and fell slower, indicating that she was still alive.

"All right, Kaitlyn," Daniel started, kneeling next to her and opening up a medical kit, grabbing the painkillers. "I'm going to give you these so you can't feel me take it out."

Daniel cupped a few painkillers in his hand and opened up her mouth, forcing them in and massaging her throat to ease them down. He put his ear to her throat until he heard a gulp, then moved over and looked to the rod.

He grabbed the rag and covered it in peroxide, wrapping it around the base of the rod, and gripped the shaft with both of his hands, placing his knee on her leg to hold it down.

He started to tug with all of his might.

Kaitlyn's eyes shot open, and she started to scream.

     "STOP, DANNY!" she yelled. "STOP!"

"I cannot until the metal rod is removed from your leg, Kaitlyn!" Daniel yelled back, continuing to pull.

Kaitlyn continuing screaming as the rod slowly gave way, coming out of her leg. As soon as it came out, Daniel quickly layered the peroxide-covered rag on the large open wound, applying as much pressure as he could.

     Kaitlyn continued screaming.

She screamed as loud as the ghosts of the damned could. She screamed loud enough and shrill enough to scare away banshees.

She screamed loud enough to possibly scare away the daemon fiends.

While he put pressure on the wound, he opened up the tube of cake with his mouth and quickly lathered it all over the palm of his hand. He ripped the rag off of her leg and slapped the cake over the wound, spreading as much as he could while applying more, tube contracting and contracting until nothing was left.

The Cake started to change color, looking as if it was hardening like concrete. Kaitlyn screamed in pain, veins popping on her neck and face.

Daniel rushed over to her side and hugged her as hard as he could, hoping to siphon the pain from her form. He hugged for any moments before Kaitlyn could cling to anymore pain.
