"These creatures will haunt my experiments!"
-The Voice from Downstairs
-Twentieth of Maximum Messis
The glowing red button by the door was sucked into the wall.
The box above the metal security gate buzzed.
Metal swung open, making violent contact with concrete.
Gwaaaaaaaa! a sound echoed off of the walls.
Lights flickered. A heart jittered. Lungs quivered. Sparks fell down onto the floor, making faint outlines of the unknown fluids that pooled on the black and white tiled floor. Doors were partially destroyed, wooden shavings scattering the floor. Slashes marked the walls, exposing more solid concrete and outdated pipes and wiring. The desiccated corpses of unknown creatures lay against the walls, faces mutated as if devoured by tumors, appendages missing or lower jaws removed.
Daniel shuddered, flicking on the flashlight on his rifle and pointing it down the hallway, which was masked in such a darkness that it devoured the light. He gulped, fear sliding down his throat as he walked into the darkness, equipped with a courage on loan.
The light on the rifle dimmed a bit, but allowed Daniel to see through the darkened hallway nonetheless. Two noises bounced off the walls of the corridor.
Crackle-pop!
Hiss-chitter!
Daniel gulped, continuing his way down the hallway.
At that moment, three creatures staggered down the hallway, unaware of Daniel's presence.
Their gait made them seem zombie-like, but they looked almost exactly like the monsters that killed Rico days before. Their heads were tumor-like as they oozed green and ill-yellow pus from their pores.
Calm down, Daniel, he thought to himself, you have this.
He slowly started to aim towards their heads, as he noticed that they didn't notice yet.
He fired.
The creature's head exploded, body rag-dolling backwards, hitting the floor with a thud.
Daniel smiled behind the iron sights, lowering the barrel and analyzing the surrounding creatures. It seemed like they still didn't notice, almost like their ears weren't registering any sound whatsoever.
The creature's body he shot curled back onto it's feet, a new head bursting from it's neck, splattering green goo all over the place, screaming.
It quickly moved it's head in Daniel's direction, as if it could hear him.
IT COULD SENSE ME! Daniel thought.
The creature charged at him as the others didn't seem to understand what was happening, hands outstretched.
As it neared him, he panicked, grabbing the hilt of his heirloom katana and slicing the creature up the middle as it ran past. He paused, eyeing the green ooze splattered all over his armor and blade. His eyes lit up, glowing white like when he touched the artifact a day ago.
He jumped, stabbing a creature through the top of its skull with his blade before vaulting off its shoulders and decapitating the other creature.
