DIYA

It had been almost two week and still Abhi had not contacted Ana. She was upset about it, but tried to fake her way through.

I needed to have a chat with him. What the hell was he doing? Once she makes up her mind, it's very difficult to change it and  now, she was determined not to give Abhi a chance.

Currently,  I was giving a test in Botany. I was done long back and was waiting for Ana to finish, so that we could go out together. It was a waste,  to wait for Afreen because the only way she hands in her paper is when the invigilator snatches it from her,  at the end of the test.

I was restless. I looked up at Ana again and she indicated that she would be done in 5 minutes. I motioned with my hand that I would be outside and she nodded and got back to the test.

Once I was out, I made my way to the canteen and checked my phone.

I had several texts from Dev.

Dev : Hey let's go out today,  after your classes. Abhi and I are free.

Dev: Get Ana too.

Dev: It would be cool to hang out, just the four of us. Abhi is biting everyone's head off, because he is moping around about Ana.

Dev: Don't let him know I said that. He will kill me.

Just when I was about to reply, I got another text.

Dev: Hey why aren't you replying?? Panicking here.

Me: Will you relax. I had a test.

I replied quickly and sent another text.

Me: Yeah. Okay. will come.

No point in telling him that there was no power in the universe that would make Ana go. God that girl and her temper.

I immediately got a reply.

Dev: Oh. How did it go? If it went bad, I know a way of cheering you up. ;);)

I felt my face heating up with a message as simple as that. Ughhh dirty mind of mine!!!!

"What's up with the red face?" Ana said, looking over my shoulder at my phone. I hadn't even noticed her coming into the canteen.

I quickly tucked it away and said, "Nothing. How was the test?"

She narrowed her eyes at me and shrugged, "Same as always."

I took a deep breath and said, "I know you're going to say no, but still I need to ask you."

She looked at me questioningly.

I continued, "Dev and Abhi want to meet up...." Before I could say anything else, "You are right, I'm saying no. You go,  if you want. I won't be coming." She said, stone faced.

I sighed and said, "Fine. I'm not going to force you this time. I'll find out what's wrong with him."

"I don't want to know." She said, coldly.

"Don't be like that. Maybe,  he was busy with something." I said, even I wasn't convinced with what I said.

She looked at me in disbelief and just shook her head, "Forget it. Don't talk about me and I don't wanna know about him anymore, I think. For the first time I felt like giving a guy a chance, and look the way it turned out. Maybe it's a good thing. I don't think I'm cut out for all this. I don't like playing all these mind games. It's not me. You go and have fun. I'll leave. Tell Afreen I said Bye." With that she grabbed her bag and left.  I could see the unshed tears in her eyes.

Abhimnayu, you're so dead.

I parked my vehicle and looked around for them. Just as I was about to call Dev, I heard cat calls, aimed at me.  I turned around to glare at the person and saw that it was Dev.

"Hey. Looking good as always." He said, giving me an one armed hug.  I just smiled at him. My smile turned to a glare when I saw the person next to him,  only  to find that he was glaring,  right back at me.

"Why the fuck are you alone?" Abhi asked, with hostility emitting from every bone in his body.

"See. He's been like this for the past two week." Dev said, shaking his head.

"Excuse me!! Did you actually expect her to come?  Wow,  you are dumber than you look." I retorted.

" Who are you calling dumb? Well, that's you're job. To drag her everywhere with you. Aren't you supposed to be her best friend." He growled at me.

I got into his face and hissed, "You are an Idiot. You don't contact her after getting her number, for almost two weeks!! What is she supposed to think. You are giving her mixed signals and thanks to that, there is no freaking way she's going to give you a chance."

His face paled  and he asked dumbstruck, "What?"

I sighed, tired and said, "Look. She's not used to all this. She hates all these games. She needs things to be straightforward and direct. Either you like her or you don't. It's that simple with her. I actually thought you liked her. But, with  the way you have been acting....." I trailed off.

"She has my number. She could've texted me too." He said petulantly and continued,  "I'm not playing any games with her. How was I supposed to know that she was expecting me to call or text. See,  that's the problem with you girls. I call her the next day after getting her number, then I'm desperate and if I don't call then I've attitude, what the hell am I supposed to do?"

I smacked him on his head and he exclaimed, "Hey!!!"

"Okay. That's enough kids."  Dev interjected.

Abhi and I both turned our glares on Dev,  who backed away giving us the peace sign.

"Can we continue this over food?  I'm really hungry. We can brainstorm ideas better with food." He said.

Abhi gave a short laugh and asked, "How is it,  that everything's about food with you?"

I shook my head at their behavior and we walked into the restaurant to, like Dev said, brainstorm ideas with food.
