ANA
I clutched my stomach and tried to stop laughing. Tears were streaming down my face from all that laughter.
"Oh my God!! Tere sath hi aisa hota hai." (these things happen only to you). I said.
Afreen was glaring at Diya and me, as we continued to laugh.
"You're laughing??!!! I was shit scared and you are making fun of me." Afreen exclaimed.
"Calm down, Affu. You didn't get caught. So everything's okay." Diya said, trying to calm her down.
"Who was it?" I asked her, curiously. Afreen was telling us about her adventure yesterday.
"It was his uncle. He knows me too. He's a mutual relative. He knew Farhan was alone and had come to take him to his house. If he had seen me there..." Afreen shuddered.
Yeah, if he had seen her there, things would have gone drastically south.
Diya put her hand around Afreen's shoulder for comfort and said, "Hey, its okay. You guys are fine. Nothing happened. All's well that ends well, right? So, forget about it and stop worrying."
"Yeah." Afreen said.
"But, I still can't believe it. You climbed out of the balcony." I said and started laughing again.
Diya and Afreen exchanged mischievous looks and Afreen narrowed her eyes at me, "I heard someone went out on a date yesterday."
I immediately stopped laughing and grabbed my bag and tried to rush out of the canteen to class, but was stopped by my two best friends. They cornered me, making sure I couldn't escape and I blushed.
"It's not what you think." I said, quickly.
"Oh, really. Then why did Abhi text and ask me, if he could take you out?" Diya asked.
"By the way, Diya, That's kinda cute, that he asked your permission and all. It's soooo..awwww." Afreen cooed.
"Ughhhh. I don't know, okay. He's so confusing. He's hot one minute and cold the next. I really don't know what to make of it. And the way he asked for my number, I couldn't refuse." I said.
"What!!!" Both of them exclaimed.
"You gave him your number??" Diya asked in disbelief.
I looked at them sheepishly and nodded.
"You must really like him then." Afreen said, thoughtfully.
I nodded my head and then shook it vigorously, denying.
"Giving him my number doesn't mean I like him." I said, defending myself.
"Tell me, how many guys have you given your number to?" Diya asked with raised eyebrows.
Okay. The answer was none. Zero. Zilch.
All the guys in my group of friends had gotten my number only after many months of being friends with me and that too, only because we had formed a group in Whatsapp.
"Remember, I had to beg you to give your number to Harsh" Diya said.
"Lot of good that did him too. She asked him to 'Fuck off', with the first message he sent her." Afreen said, laughing.
"You guys. Stop it." I whined.
"Okay. Okay. We will. Tell us what happened yesterday." Diya said.
And I told them everything.
"Awwww. How cute." Afreen exclaimed, after I finished. My face was still flaming red, thinking about it.
Afreen was gushing about everything while, Diya was contemplating.
"Has he called or texted you?" Diya asked.
"No. Not yet. Should I text him first?" I asked.
"NOOOOOO!!!" Both of them shouted.
"Let him text first." Afreen said.
"But, what if he doesn't?" I asked, worried.
"Oh, trust me. He will text you. He will be waiting for you to make the first move. Instead, we will make him wait and he will cave first. You should be getting a text by tonight." Diya said.
I looked at her in awe and said, "Wow. You know so much."
"Experience." Afreen said while Diya just shrugged her shoulders and the three of us made our way to class, giggling.

"I'm so tired." I said and fell face first on Diya's bed.
Diya pushed me to make some room for her and dropped down next to me.
I was going to spend the night at Diya's, as it was a routine for us. We used to stay at either of our places, during working days and on Sundays; we spent at our respective homes.
It was already 7, by the time we came back and both of us were tired.
"Let's do that assignment. We need to submit it tomorrow." I said.
Diya groaned and got up. We took out our books and started working on the assignment.
After 5 minutes, Diya's phone started ringing. I looked at the caller id and saw that it was Dev. Diya's face lit up and she happily chattered away on the phone.
I looked at my phone to see if I had gotten any texts and chucked it far away from me, disgusted.
I mean, who does that. I gave him my number, roughly 24 hours ago and he doesn't even text me. And here I thought he was interested in me. I scoffed. Even if he texts me now, I'm not going to reply. I have my pride. I will give him a taste of his own medicine. I will not text him or answer his calls. Yes. That's what I'm going to do, I thought smugly.
My cell phone pinged, indicating that I had received a text message. I immediately rushed towards my phone and picked it up from where I had chucked it. I looked at the screen eagerly.
"Ughhhh." I growled out. It was an inconsequential message from Harsh.
What am I doing? I was not supposed to be this eager to receive his texts and let alone reply. Where was my pride? Why was I desperately waiting for him to talk to me?
"Abhimanyu Rana, you are so frustrating." I grumbled.
