I breathed in the fresh, night air. I flipped my hood up and put my hands in the pockets of my jacket. I began to sing an old song to myself.
"I close my eyes only for a moment, and the moment's gone.
All my dreams pass before my eyes, a curiosity.
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea.
All we do crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see."I hear a loud engine. I look to my side and see a car with the window rolled down. "Need a ride?"
"Where to?" I asked curiously.
"On my way to L.A.," he said.
"Cool," I smiled and got in the front seat. I sat down an took off my hood.
"What's your name?" he asked. He had dark hair, dark eyes, cute.
"Alexis," I said. "And you?"
"I'm Jack Gilinsky."
The boy named Jack took me to a small cafe. He ordered a coffee, I ordered a tea.
"Hey, what time is it?" I asked him.
"It's two in the morning," he answered. "So where ya headed?"
"Wherever the wind takes me," I replied.
"Oh, adventurous?" I nod and sip my tea. "I'm adventurous myself, but not enough to walk around at two in the morning. Do you own a car?"
"Nope, I just walk."
"Damn, where do you want to go?"
"I've always wanted to go back to Hawaii, but I haven't had a job, therefore no money to get there," I shrug it off and stare around the cafe.
"How long are you planning on staying here in California?" he asks.
"You ask a lot of questions," I laugh. "I'll be here for a week or two."
"I bet I can change your mind," he smirks.
"What do you mean by that?" I smirk back at him.
"Come stay with me tonight, I'll take you on an all paid adventure around California," he explains. "I'll make you want to stay."
"No strings attached? I don't have money, ya know?"
"No strings attached."
-
"No strings attached."
I accepted his adventurous invitation. I was always up for an adventure and I wasn't gonna turn it down.
He took me back to his house, pretty big. Something I'd never wanted. The world was my home. Good enough, organic.
"This is it," he said looking around. "This is my house."
"It's- uh. It's nice," I said nodding and looking around.
"Not much used to this, huh?" he asks, I shake my head. "Let me show you the kitchen, you look a little skinny."
We walked to his kitchen. Full of chips, cookies, lots of junk food. I took a cookie and bit into it.
"Yum," I said with a smile.
He sat down at the island table and looked at me. "So have you, you know, ever had a relationship?"
I thought about it, "not a serious one. Mostly just fool around until I leave." He stared at me waiting for more. "Constantly traveling just doesn't work in a relationship, and I'd much rather travel."
"Oh," he smirked as he nodded and looked at his hands.
"Why?" I smirk.
"Just a question," he laughs and puts a cookie in his mouth. He looks at his phone, cookie still hanging out of his mouth. I reach across the island table and bite the other end of the cookie, pushing my lips against his.
I bit down and took the other half of the cookie. "No strings attached."

So I'm working really hard on this book, basically making everything up as I go, but I have a bunch of ideas. I'm gonna try to add songs to every chapter if I find one that goes with it. If there's a chapter without a song, and you think a song would go with it, just comment the song title and I'll consider. xx
