James's POV:

I wake up and run my hands through my hair. I don't know why but it's starting to become a habit. I quickly jump out of bed but I immediately regret it. Black dots appear for my eyes but they luckily go away quickly too.

I go to Sirius's room to see if he is still sleeping. Well yes! I may seem a little weird but Sirius came to live with us last summer. He ran away because his family hated him for being in Gryffindor. There are more personal reasons but I won't tell.

I go downstairs and meet Mickey, one of our House-Elves.

"Hello Master James, did Master James sleep well?" Mickey asks.

"Yes thank you Mickey," I thank.

"Master, an owl arrived this morning for Master James and Master Sirius, Mickey thinks it's from Hogwarts," Mickey says, giving me the letters. Maddie now also joins us.

I feel that my letter is a little heavier than Sirius's. I decide to open it now and not to wait for Sirius. When I open the letter, a badge falls on the table. Mickey and Maddie look at it in surprise and Mickey hugs my legs very tight. I pick op the badge and see HB on there. I thought Dumbledore must have made a mistake. I don't think Minnie (Minnie is the Marauders name for McGonagall) will have agreed.

I read the first letter:

' Dear Mr Potter,
We are very pleased and proud to give you the opportunity to be Head Boy. You will be excepted to join a gathering on the train in the Prefect compartment to get to know the other Head Girl and the Prefects. There will be a meeting on the second to put Prefects in pairs for the evening rounds. I will tell you a few things about being Head Boy:
- You and the Head Girl are the only student who have permission to take points from houses but even from your own. Please don't use the opportunity or you will lose the responsibility.
- You and the Head Girl have a Common Room and two separate bedrooms for yourselves.
- You are responsible for the other Prefects. You must make sure that they do their rounds. You may talk to me or Professor Dumbledore if you find a Prefect not capable of their responsibility as a Prefect.
We wish you loads of luck with your duties.

Yours sincerely,
Professor M. McGonagall
Deputy Headmistress of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry.'

Sirius screams and I jump.

"WHAT," I scream.

"YOU'VE BEEN MADE HEAD BOY!! HOW!!" Sirius screams.

"JEEZ YOU MADE ME JUMP!!" I scream back.

"Why are Masters screaming?" Maddie squeaks.

"Because I am Head Boy and I'm like the worst student Hogwarts has ever had!" I laugh.

Mum comes in and looks at the badge and then at me, then at the badge again and then gives me a big hug.

Sirius and I have a good day, teasing each other, playing Quidditch and playing games. We also started to think about pranks we can do at Hogwarts. It seems stupid but that's just what we do as Marauders. It's our duty! We've been playing pranks on people and getting into detention since our first day at Hogwarts. One of our good friends at school is Peeves the poltergeist! He causes havoc, just like us. I can remember the day we became friends like yesterday!

'Flashback'
Sirius, Remus, Peter and I were sneaking around at night. We had decided to set the Potion Books on fire because it was one of our least favourite subjects (except for me because I was able to sit next to Evans). We were just about to set them on fire when Peeves swooped in the classroom. We jumped and held our breaths. Peeves just cackled and said, "What are you children doing? Setting the books on fire?" We nodded lightly. He laughed again and said, "Welcome! I'm Peevesee, the best ghost here at the school and I love pranking people! Pranking people, pranking people" he started to make a song. We stared at him like he was Nicholas Flamel in his underwear and then looked at each other. We laughed and kind of shook hands with Peeves. From that night forth, we secretly 'gathered' in the night to think of pranks to play on people. We once turned Minnie's hat into a frog. We doubled up with laughter, seeing her scream and dancing around the classroom. We had a week detention but it was worth it! After a while, we decided to give our group a name (without Peeves though). 'The Marauders'!'
