I wake up because of Mum. My mum, unlike Marlene, wakes me up gently. Marlene would probably just shout in my ear for me to wake up. That is why I usually like to wake up before she does.

I walk, still half-asleep, to my wardrobe and pick my favourite dress. I slide it over my head and then it falls in place. I undo my plait and grab my brush. I comb my hair for it to look a bit bushy. I kind of like it that way. I go to the bathroom and put on some concealer, a little bit of mascara and a light-brownish eyeshadow. I look for my flower hair clip and slide it in my hair, holding back a strand of my fiery red hair. I skip downstairs and get one of my dad's rucksacks. I hope it is strong enough to carry all my school supplies. If it can't, we can always buy a new one.

"Morning Lily!" Dad greets, not looking up from his newspaper.

"Morning Dad!" I reply, giving him a hug.

I sit down at the table and wait for Mum to serve me my breakfast. She gives me my plate with a slice of bread and an heart shaped egg. I give her a kiss on the cheek and thank her. I finish my egg in silence and then run upstairs for my bags.

I hope I can buy an owl or a cat in Diagon Alley. My mouse died last year because of Vernon. He thinks of mice as vermin and then killed it. Since then, I've been calling him Vermin.

I run downstairs again and put my stuff in the car. I walk back inside again and het my emerald green summer coat from the coat hangers.

I'm in such a good mood today, nobody can stop me being in a good mood now. Mum asks me if I can wake up Petunia. I obey and walk upstairs. I open Petunia's door and open her curtains.

"Wake up sunshine, a new day has begun!" I sing, giving her a kiss on her cheek. I know she probably won't like it but I don't care. To my surprise, I see a little grin on her face.

I quickly brush my teeth, pack my brush and toothbrush and then walk downstairs again. I'm having a good work out today, with all the walking up and down the stairs. I smile and call Mum. I give Dad one last kiss and then follow Mum to the car.

"You excited sweetie?" Mum asks.

"Yeah! Really! Thanks for coming with me!" I thank.

"Oh no problem! I hope you have a good time at Marlene's house!"

We talk until we arrive at the carpark nearest to the Leaky Cauldron but we won't go there just yet.

I take Mum's hand and we walk down the street. We stop in a few shops but we don't buy anything (yet). I suddenly run to a shop and enter. I had just seen the most beautiful diary ever. It had a lock so I could write anything in there. I didn't have to think twice. I grab it and literally run to the counter. By the time Mum arrives at the shop, I already walk through the door with my diary. She laughs at me and shakes her head.

We walk some more and stop at a cafe. Mum gets me a hot chocolate and herself a cappuccino. Mum asks me what I want to do and then we both decide to go to a few more shops and then to go to Diagon Alley.

After a while, we both finish our drinks and Mum pays. We both quickly go to the loo and then we're off! We go to a bookshop where Mum buys me two books for being Head Girl. I thank her and give her a kiss. I buy myself one new book too so I've got loads to read at school!

We walk in and out of shops for the next half and hour and then decide to go to Diagon Alley. I lead the way because Mum can't see the sign. We look very carefully, to see if no Muggle is looking, and then quickly enter the Leaky Cauldron. I greet Tom and walk with Mum to the back.

I do the pattern and then stand back. I don't know why but I'm still fascinated by seeing Diagon Alley appear very slowly. I look around and see one of my really friends, Dorcas.
