Chapter 47: The Empty Pod

I looked around the confusing city. "How did she know I was here?!" I asked annoyed.

"One of your emotional levels are raising and are at tracking level. You need to lower it or else a lot of seniors will perish a bit earlier than scheduled."

I ran into the senior home and opened the door. Marcus was being crowded by the seniors with questions. "That's why, he feels uncomfortable" I said. I was about to walk over to him when my mother grabbed my arm.

I glanced up at her. "Wow JetStream I never thought you were this short" she said finally smiling at me. I used a higher pitched voice than my own. Crap my costume.

"As so I've been told" I sighed.

"And your voice..." She said.

I took a deep breath. "I have a job to do so please"

"Wait why are you here?" She asked.

"There's an enemy, I've been singled out"

Marcus walked over to me. I grabbed him by the hair. "Are you trying to get people killed?!"

"Ow ow!" Marcus yelled.

"Your power levels reflect your emotions so turn down a notch, we have a skrull on our asses" I said.

"I'll fight it myself you evacuate the home, make sure mom and dad are far so they don't put two and two together." I leaned on the window I peered in.

"I don't want anyone getting hurt because of me" I said.

"Alright Riley" He patted my head. "First relax."

"If you stop yelling at me so, I could calm down and not want to yell back"

"Riley?"

I froze. I turned. Of course my mother was standing there. "God dammit Marcus." I hissed What did you hear?"

"All of it" She folding her arms.

"Great" I sighed glaring at Marcus.

"There they is!" Lyja yelled landing on the roof top next to her flying board.

"Are your power levels not down?!" I yelled.

"It actually switched hosts, so I guest your emotions are what they were before, and now they are just rising" She said looking at her pad. I punched the skrull down.

"Ya damn right, I'm getting pissed, that nothing can go my way!" I yelled.

"Remember our plan" I said to Marcus.

"So what do you need from us?" She asked.

"As heroes get older they get stronger, and their power as well."

"I came to relieve you of both your powers to destroy the Fantastic Four"

I squinted my eyes. "Your kidding right? The Fantastic Four?"

She lunged for me. I kicked her into the air and then knocked her back onto the ground. "Come on! I haven't even used my powers yet" I teased.

"Then use them"

"Fine your wish is my command. As she got up I filled my hand with my energy and I punched her right back down.

"You weren't even a challenge for me" I said.

"When the others arrive you two will be so over whelmed you'll beg for mercy" she said.

"Shield pick up I have the skrull here" I said.
