Chapter 10: Origin Confusion

I chased Bactrov through times square, I finally caught up and smacked him down. "Thank you" I said.

"Come on were going to watch a movie on the Helicarrier" Iron fist encouraged.

I found my way up to the helicarrier. "What are we watching" I said sitting next to Nova.

"Origins" he said. My eyes widen and I ran out of my seat.

"Fury locked the doors, believe me I tried" Ava said. I sat sadly and it started.

"Fearless leader here" The movie started and we groaned loudly

I learned many things about them, all of them. "This was meant to have you guys be closer together. A much more light mission than what you normally have. But seems like Riley didn't turn in her origin video" he said.

"Oral report" he yelled.

"Well screw me I said getting up. They clapped and waited.

"Ok the truth is" I rubbed my neck. "I don't know my origin, I know nothing about me, about my past, my real parents, or anything, my adoptive parents said I was a test subject before in Chicago, but how? I would like to tell you, but first I'd have to find out myself" I said.

Spiderman stormed up towards me.  "You make a speech for this?" he said.

"I don't know my origin... I dont know where I got my powers." I laughed.

"Then sit down" Fury  said.

"Ok...." I skinned my face and sat down quietly.

"a baby girl was born-" Fury said.

"Wow in wonder who."

"Next to a dying mother, she's being hospitalized" he said raising his voice.

"This baby girl survived off of nothing" he said.

"Two scientists wanted to cut her open and look at what she's been eating.

"But when they tried the baby would cry and and a huge ball of energy would surround her to protect"

"This girl was tested, and eventually, became the talk of the 70s" he said. I was listening closely. Why.... Why does this story sound far fetched. Maybe I just dont believe a baby survived off of nothing.

"I wasn't born then" I said.

"True because that was your mother" he said. When were born you had a mixture of powers, you had, speed, and energy." he said.

"So you knew where my family has been all this time?"

"I don't think thats the proper take away. You were in Hydra's custody. During an attack Shield took you back and ended up having to take care of you..."

"Where does my real family live?"

"New Jersey" Peter made a face and Ava punched him. "But again we have no proof of this. We got you from a Hydra sub-camo that forces children to join theie army.

"Where are my parents?" I asked.

"Are they... actually her parents?" Peter sat up. I smiled his direction.

"Yeah she has a sibling that willingly gave blood. You both match. Congrats Riley. I'll give you the address later."

"Why did they give me up" I mumbled.

"Riley they didn't." Fury walked out of the room. My mind was blown and I sat contemplating.

"Hey" Tiger sat in front of me. "You there"

"Yeah?" I said.

"I'm just, nervous" I said holding my arms.

"Come on." Ava grabbed my hand and lead me to the cafeteria. Am I ready for this?

When they finally found the address I raced everyone to New Jersey, people gawked at us but it didn't matter to me. We were in normal clothes, so whats the big deal

"So, where is 735" I said. Ava pointed. A man in sweats and with bags under his eyes looked at me while taking out the trash.

He had a five I clock beard and looked worked out.

"I'm looking for Norma and Frank Peterson" I asked reading a paper.

"I'm Frank, what is this about" he said folding his arms.

"Daddy daddy" Two little girls ran to the front. My eyes twitched Sam laughed.

"Shut up" I snapped.

"Not now" he shooed them away.

"Ok so, did you ever have a daughter about 16 years ago" Peter asked.

Frank's face fell but a small smile tugged at his lips. "Let me consult my wife for the ransom, don't worry" He rushed away.

"Ransom?" Danny asked confused. He came out and brought us inside.

"Where did you find her what did they do to her" Norma asked frantically.

"What do you mean they" I asked.

"None of your business" She said. "Where is my daughter?"

"I'm actually her..."

"Prove it. What is your name."

"Riley... I don't......really know my true last name."

"What happened to you?" She asked me looking at my hair. I guess my hair wasn't like the rest of theirs.

"Well I was adopted, told me actual my parents couldn't take me." I mumbled.

"That's not true baby, they took you they stole you from us. Your powers were stable. Very stable. We thought you wouldn't have any like your father. " Norma laughed.

"Shield stole me?" I said suprised looking back at my team.

"Go and make yourselves at home" Frank ordered. They left and we continued to talk about my true origin.

"You are actually Riley Peterson, and you were taken by shield when we talked about your powers." Frank said.

"You were born with your powers." Norma said.

"Was I hit by lightning" I asked.

"What? Did he tell you that?" Frank said. "I think they'd tell you anything these days. We were devastated, you were our first child with powers" He said quietly.

"Wait" I said. "Did you actually drain your powers?"

"No that is not true, I gave you all my speed, but not my phasing, I don't need it" She said

"Want it?" she smirked. My eyes widened,

"You can give powers?" I said.

She laughed "No but I can teach you how to, it involves your speed" she said. My eyes started to drip and I quickly wiped them.

"I'm... Im sorry... I just- its been a rough year." I sniffled getting pulled into my mothers arms.
