"Did you find her?" I ask.
"Not exactly." A familiar voice says. He walks into view.
"You've got to be kidding me." I groan in annoyance.

My morning began like every other morning. I woke up, only to be annoyed with myself for it, showered, and made my way downstairs for breakfast.
My neck is still sore from yesterday, which only reminds me of Rose's death. Whatever, it's fine, we'll get over it.
I enter the kitchen, excited for the future bacon I'll be making, only to see Uncle John at the counter with a cup of coffee in hand. I guess I shouldn't be calling him "Uncle" anymore.
Ugh.
He notices me before giving a small wave. "Morning, Gabby."
"Gabriella," I correct. I grab the bacon bag out of the fridge and place it on the table. "What are you doing here?"
"Coffee?" he offers, changing the subject.
"How about we skip the 'let's be nice' part and get to the point?" I suggest. I pull out a pan and turn on the fire. "Why are you here?"
He sighs. "I'm here to protect you and Elena," he replies seriously. I let out a laugh and slowly place five pieces of bacon on the pan.
He doesn't say anything else so I stop laughing. "You're serious?" I ask. I stare at the bacon as the grease pops.
"That's all I can say at the moment," he replies vaguely.
"That's all you can say? What do you mean 'that's all you can say'?"
"I'll tell you more when I'm convinced I can trust you."
