EditedThe sound of humming awakens me. I open my eyes, taking a sharp breath before turning my head. Damon's laying beside me, humming some old song. He looks over, shooting me a smirk. "Good morning, Sleepyhead."
I sit up, feeling the soft bed beneath me. Wasn't i in the basement? "Where am I?"
"My room," he answers, sitting up as well. I look around in confusion. "Relax, Elena told me to put you in a comfy spot. I figured a bed would've worked." Damon shrugs, sliding off the bed.
"Why not the couch?" I ask.
"The couch isn't that comfortable, Gabby," Damon argues. My head suddenly pounds in pain. I touch the hurt spot.
"Why does my head hurt?" I grumble.
"When I carried you in here, your head hit the doorway."
"Aren't you just the greatest person ever?"
"Yes I am." He gives a cocky smirk, making me roll my eyes.
"Where's Elena?" I slide off the bed as well,
"In the dungeon downstairs," Damon replies. I stand, exiting his room and goin g down the stairs. Elena meets us at the top of the basement stairs.
She crossed her arms, letting out a sigh. "I hate seeing him like that."
"You're the one who locked him up," Damon points out.
"You helped!"
"I couldn't have him running around chewing on people while the town's council is looking for vampires, now could I?"
"It had nothing to do with you actually caring about him?"
"Your thing, not mine," Damon snaps before leaving us for the study.
I sigh. "Come on, Elena. We've been here all night."
"He doesn't seem okay," Elena argues, looking down the steps.
"Elena, he hasn't had human blood in a while. He looks fine, just a little sick." I reassure. She lets out an annoyed huff before looking back at me.
"I know," she admits before turning around and leaving the house.
My patience on these situations is starting to wear thin.
I go to the study, Damon already finishing a glass of whatever while inspecting a pocket watch. "Do you know what it is yet?"
"Nope," he sighs, "Whatever it is, it doesn't work."
"Pearl didn't say anything else about it?"
"She thought she was stealing his vampire compass, but it was only a pocket watch. That Jonathan Gilbert was a crazy scientist," Damon answers. He snaps the watch shut, putting on the table before looking over at me. "Have you spoken to your uncle lately?"
"Actually, I've been avoiding him. That and I have been here with Elena most nights." We've been here for about three nights now. Elena didn't want to leave Stefan's side and I didn't want to leave Elena's.
