A twelve year old Niall squinted up at the white board which had two new math problems on it. Why had it gotten so hard to see all of a sudden? The blurriness was giving him a huge headache. He sighed, raising his hand.

"Yes, Niall?" His teacher kneeled down next to him, ready to help with his math.

"May I move closer to the board? I've got a headache," he frowned slightly almost pouting.

"Of course," the teacher smiled and patted his back as she rushed off to help another kid.

Niall grabbed his binder and moved slowly to the empty seat up front. It helped slightly. Instead of just blurry blobs, Niall saw blurry numbers that he could barely make out.

"If you begin to feel sick, Niall, please let me know," the teacher called from her back desk.

Every head turned towards a blushing Niall as he sunk down in his plastic chair. This was his absolute worst nightmare. He always hated speaking in front of class. He stuttered, froze up, and he even passed out.

Niall nodded, silently. He sunk even deeper into his seat as the others turned back to their work. Thankfully, Niall had chosen the seat that was right in front of his best friend, Liam. He felt a light poke on his shoulder. Turning around, Niall smiled lightly. He could see most of Liam, his edges were blurring slightly.

"Are you alright, mate?" He asked, kindly.

"Kinda, I can't see," Niall pouted and Liam patted his shoulder.

"Maybe you need glasses," Liam said writing down a few numbers.

"I don't want glasses!" Niall whispered harshly and tried not to yell.

Niall turned back to his work and slowly started writing out his math. His headache had went away and Niall was wishing it would have stayed so he could call home. But it went and Niall had no hope of going home early.

"Li, what did ya get for the first one?" Niall whispered, lifting his paper.

"17," Liam whispered back.

"How?" Niall felt all hope leave him.

"It's simple."

Liam finished explaining the problem. (that Niall still didn't understand) as the lunch bell rang.

"Are you gonna play some footy?" Harry asked Niall.

Niall pulled out a peanut butter sandwich and a bag of chips. (The American kind sorry...)

"I don't know, Haz... I'm not really up to it today," Niall said.

"What's wrong?" Louis, his other friend, asked.

"I can't see very good," Niall looked down and sniffed for a dramatic effect.

"Are you gonna cry?" Louis looked around nervously for Liam.

"No," Niall wiped at an oncoming tear.

He just felt so helpless. He wouldn't even be able to see if someone was passing him the ball.

"I'll pass on it today," Niall looked away from the boys and blinked away tears that were blurring his vision even more.

"Pass it!" Louis yelled as he ran past Niall.

He was sitting at a picnic table, swinging his legs. He felt bored and upset. Why hadn't his friends stayed with him? Didn't they care about him? Niall got up and moved to the concrete that was farther across the playground. He couldn't see anyways so why did it matter where he sat? The young blonde sighed and rested his chin on his arms.
