Niall was numb. He felt nothing but this feeling of numbness. No happiness, anger, not even sadness. Which is really what he was supposed to be feeling in this situation, right? Well, really he didn't know what he was supposed to be feeling. This was his first break up. Yes, he was twenty two years old, and still hadn't ever had a break up. Yes, maybe the stupid so called 'serious relationship' he'd had in kindergarten.
But he thought this person was different. They treated him like he mattered. Like he was one of a kind. (Which in many opinions this is quite true.) They bought him presents for when they were cuddling on the couch late at night. And sometimes they made him dinner after he came home from a long day at work.
But when he came home from work tonight, his now EX boyfriend, told him that they just weren't meant to be. Of course Niall was panic stricken. He had no where to go. Well actually, he did have somewhere to go but his mind couldn't really process it. Plus, he couldn't just call up his crush and say, 'Take me to your flat.' it's rude. But he decided it was his best option, considering he had to be out by midnight. Yes, his ex wanted him gone by then.
"Niall?" Niall's ears perked up to the sound of Louis' beautiful voice. "Why are you calling me at eleven, mate?" Niall's heart twinged at the thought of what has just happened.
"Ryan... broke up with me. H-he wants me out by midnight. Please, you've gotta help me!" Niall was desperate. He had only whispered this because he didn't really want Ryan to hear him. He didn't want Ryan to know he was weak and was caving.
"I'll be there in two. Get your stuff, babe." Niall could here the rustling in the background, right before Louis hung up.
Niall shoved all of his clothes into his favorite blue suit case. He grabbed his phone and charger. Plus, the only money he really possessed. Dragging his feet with him to the front door, he slipped his jacket and shoes on and turned to the kitchen. He thought about saying goodbye but he knew Ryan would shout at him.
He tried to wipe the tears from his eyes as he approached Louis' car. He was terrified. What would happen if Louis got sick of his stupid behaviors just like Ryan did. Yes, he had other friends but none as close as Louis. He couldn't even think about losing his crush.
"Are you okay, babe?" Louis asked as they pulled onto the road. "I'm gonna go pick up a few things at the store. Is there anything you need?" Niall shook his head. It answered both questions because he wasn't alright, he was torn. Torn apart by a monster whom he thought he was happy with.
Louis was silent up until they both got into the store. It was the only store that Niall knew was open all night. And it had pretty much everything.
"How about some ice cream? What's your favorite?" Louis gave a small smile to Niall. It made Niall's heart leap.
"Just vanilla, please." Niall mumbled looking to the floor to hide his blush.
"Ni! I know you better than that! Your favorite is cookie dough." Louis did have a point. He did know Niall better than he knew himself. Especially at this moment when didn't even know if he was blinking correctly anymore. It seemed to Ryan that he couldn't do anything correctly.
"These pizzas are so good. I made one a few nights ago and it was delicious. And you know me, I can't even cook!" Niall gave a tiny smile and looked up at Louis. "I'm sorry about Ryan," Louis wrapped his arm around Niall's shoulder.
"It's okay, Lou. I guess some things aren't meant to be," Niall felt tears come to his eyes as he thought about it. He didn't want to cry in front of his crush. He was too weak. He needed to toughen up if he was ever gonna make it to the real world.
