Liam POV
"I don't know, mate... I'm scared she won't like me back," I murmured. Niall was trying his best to lace confidence into me. I was really into this girl that I worked with but I was afraid that she wouldn't like me back. I mean, we've been friends for a while but who's to say she doesn't wanna stay like that? Niall pushed himself off of the couch and walk to the kitchen where we were making some spaghetti.

"So, are you going to work tomorrow?" He called loudly. I followed him, leaning on the counter by the stove. I nodded once Niall had a view of me. "So! Tell her how ya feel!" Niall chopped some of the hamburger meat up and bustled about, obviously looking for something. I picked up the packet of spaghetti sauce and set in his warm hands.

"I can't just tell her how I feel. What if she doesn't feel the same and... I ruin what we already have?" I watched Niall cook, not exactly paying much attention to what he was doing. (Even though I was supposed to be learning.) Niall paused, setting down the spatula he was using, and resting a hand on my shoulder.

"Mate, if Sapphire doesn't like you back, so what? There's plenty of fish in the sea! And besides, you've always got your good ol' Irish baby!" Niall wiggled his eyebrows and danced in front of me weirdly. I couldn't help but chuckle at my flat mate.

"Ni, I'm straight and you know it, go find yourself a boyfriend and quit flirting with me!" I smiled, making sure he knew I wasn't being too serious. Although, I am straight and... well Niall is about as straight as a rainbow, if I'm honest. "You know I love you as a best mate," I ruffled his already messy hair.

Niall pouted slightly. I had to admit he was adorable, I could never date him. I couldn't help but think about what he said. Because there aren't other fish like her. Sapphire's one of a kind. Everything that I've ever wanted. And if I let this fish just swim away, I'll be heartbroken. Niall doesn't really understand. He's never had a serious relationship, only some that they both agreed it didn't work out. Usually because Niall didn't exactly fulfill the others needs as they wished.

I watched as Niall scooped spaghetti noodles onto two plates and a few scoops of spaghetti sauce onto the top.

"Here you go, smexy," Niall handed off my plate, calling me the nickname that always made me want to smack him.

"Niall James!" I yelled punching him lightly. He gave a small giggle, knowing exactly how to drive me mad. I set my plate down, hiding a small smile. Niall's cooking was usually pretty good, but I'd honestly worried myself sick with this whole thing about this whole Sapphire thing.

"Li-Li, you okay? You've barely touched it, mate. Did I not cook it good this time?" Niall frowned, hoping that he had done good for me. He always felt that he needed to impress people. I waved him off taking a small bite of the spaghetti.

"I'm fine, Nialler. You always cook it perfectly- master chef I'd say!" I reassured him, rubbing his back for a second. He didn't exactly seem convinced, but Niall being himself, dug into his plate again. He helped himself to seconds and small thirds, whereas I could hardly finish my first plate.

After cleaning off my plate, I made my way up to my room. Niall seemed exhausted after his master chef experience, so he fell asleep soon after. I was pretty tired myself, so I relaxed for a while. I flipped through a few channels on my TV for an hour before deciding I'd better sleep for work tomorrow.

When I woke up the morning, Niall had already left for work, leaving me a small note taped to the kitchen table.

Hey, smexy! I had to leave for work early because the boss called and told me someone called in. I made a bit of breakfast for you, and put it in the microwave. I hope you like! I gave it a bit of love for my best mate!
Love, Nialler.
