Blake POV
Niall and I were always the people to pride ourselves on helping and caring for the unfortunate. Every Christmas, our local toy store would have a donation bin and we would both donate a bunch of toys. When we had extra money, we would always donate to charity. If we were walking in town and a homeless person was there, we'd always throw a bit of money in their hat. We even download a walking app for when we walk our dogs. When we walk, it donates to our local humane society.

Needless to say, we love to help out. So when we were offered to go down to Africa for a week to help out, of course we said yes. They offered for us to stay if we would just help build a schoolhouse. We also knew that we would be able to play with the little kids.

The day of the trip, I made Niall buy tons of bracelets for all of the little kids. I wanted something that they would remember us by.

"Blake, get more than just pink, love!" Niall chuckled, grabbed two handfuls of blue bracelets and tossed them into our small basket. He followed behind me as I walked to the other baskets of bracelets. Orange would be a nice color to get. I scooped a handful of orange into our small basket and smiled. I know the kids will love them.

I pulled my blanket up to my chest and opened my book. I'd have to catch up on reading on this plane ride. Niall had already plugged his headphones in and was half asleep. Typical Niall, doesn't even want to talk about what we'll do when we get there, or even look at the great veiw. He only wants to sleep.

I had decided to take my own nap about halfway through the plane ride. When we finally started landing, I began getting antsy in my seat. I was way too excited to help rebuild a schoolhouse. Niall yawned and stretched in his seat, looking at me.

"Excited, Princess?" He asked, sleepily arranging all of his things and putting away his music.

"You have no idea..." I whimpered, shaking with anticipation.

When we finally made it off of the plane, I began looking around for our ride. The sign would say 'Horan' on it. When I finally spotted a man waving a large cardboard sign that had Horan plastered on it in huge blue letters, I pulled Niall towards it.

"Nice to meet you sir!" I smiled at the man who gave us a drive to the place we'd be staying at. It was another long drive to the place that we'd be building at, but it was so worth it. I glanced at my phone noticing the messages from the person who had asked us to help and the messages from one of the lads, making sure we landed fine.

"Quickly unpack your things so that we can go down to the building sight. You look great, angel," I cooed, planting a kiss on his cheek.

"I could say the same about you!" He gently laid his hands on hips, looking into my eyes. After a few sweet kisses, he pulled away. "I love you, Blake," he whispered.

When he was finally unpacked we made our way through the empty halls of the small hotel, and to the front door. This is where we were supposed to meet the women that had set this all up- Lou Teasdale. Once we got to the front door, Niall and I stepped out into the humid midday, already having trouble breathing in the unfamiliar, hot air.

"You must be Blake!" A woman with platinum blonde hair greeted with a heavy accent. "And you must be Niall?" She asked, hugging us both.

"Hi! Lou?" I asked making sure I had the right person before I just went all willy nilly. She nodded, flashing us both a smile. I was super excited to get to the site, and apparently she was excited for everything.

We rode in her air conditioned car for about an hour until we got to a small town. The buildings looked old, and as of they might fall apart any minute. Lou parked her car under what looked to be the only tree in the whole neighborhood.

"This," Lou motioned to the fairly large patch of dirt that we'd walked up to. "Is the place where we're building the schoolhouse. Our main goal is to make sure it withstand any amount of wind, that it has a great roof so the kids can learn even in the rain, and that the children actually have supplies to learn." Lou explained, as we walked around the multiple building supplies and equipment. "For now, you both can get to know the children. I see you brought gifts." Her eyes dropped to the yellow bag that Niall clutched tightly to his chest.

We both made our way to the place that Lou told us the kids were. We were greeted by about thirty kids, their smiling faces looking innocently up at us.

"Hi, what's your name?" Niall bent down to be eyes level with a small girl. She quietly whispered her name and shyly put her hands behind her back. It was adorable how curious they were but so shy at the same time.

"I brought something for you all to remember us!" Niall said, plopping himself on the cool ground, I did the same. He opened up the bag, smiling at how curious the kids were.

"What is it?" Someone from the back called out. They leaned in, trying to catch a glimpse into the bag.

"BRACELETS!" Another, whom was in the front yelled happily. Niall happily threw each kid, depending on which color they requested.

I watched from under a tree as Niall and a few of the kids ran around playing tag. They were having the time of their lives. I hated to call Niall over to help build. So, I just left them to play while I helped out, hammering in a few nails here and there and holding up the wooden boards that they were going to cement.

I was getting ready to hold a board for some guy when a few of the older kids came running up to me.

"Ms. Blake! Mr. Niall is hurt!*" "

He fell!" The kids yelled. My eyes widened as I handed the board off to a girl with safety goggles on.

"Bring me to him," I told them gently. A girl grabbed my hand and pulled me urgently to the spot where they had been playing. As I got closer, I found Niall sitting on the ground, tears threatening to fall from his eyes.

"What happened, my love?" I asked, kissing his cheek and holding him tightly, despite the heat.

"I-I tripped in a hole a-an-d I t-th-ink I rol-led my ankle," he struggled not to look like a total wimp in front of the kids. But the tears rolled down his pink cheeks.

"Oh, love... do you think you can walk to the nearest building?" I asked grabbing his hand, ready to help him up.

"I can t-try..." Niall whimpered. He got up, limping pathetically to the nearest building. The kids and I helped him as best we could. All of us feeling bad for him. "It's numb," Niall said, as he sat down on the front step.

"Could you kids go get some ice from that cooler over there? I'm sure the builders won't mind. Put them in a washcloth," I told them. A bunch of kids ran to the build site where they had towels and washcloths for when the builders were sweating and ice in the cooler for their waters. (Which they were giving to everyone in the town)

I stayed with Niall, massaging his ankle. He looked up at me and smiled.

"I love you, Blake." The statement made me smile as I moved the hair off of Niall's sweaty forehead.

"I love you too, angel." We kissed making the younger kids complain with disgusted noises and the older ones coo. When the children came back with ice, I pressed it lightly to Niall's swollen ankle.

"I think the best medicine is hugs and kisses," I told Niall, making sure I was loud enough for everyone to hear. All of the kids cheered as they ran up to give Niall a big group hug, careful not to step on his ankle. We all took turns giving Niall a kiss. Because I knew it was the best medicine.
