I was awoken to the sound of workmen shouting at each other outside. I looked out the curtain to see them struggling to fit a mattress into the removal lorry. I laughed to myself.
I showered, dressed, brushed my hair and teeth and put on a minimal amount of make up ready for our journey west.
The removal lorry had now left and all that was left were a few essentials we were taking in the car.
I bounded downstairs and was greeted by my Dad on his way up. Luke was walking around the kitchen eating a bowl of cereal and Mum was flicking through a magazine with a slice of toast.
"Are you ready to go then Sweetie?" Mum said, Bearly understandable due to a mouthful of toast.
I nodded. We packed the remaining luggage into the car and made sure we hadn't forgotten anything. I took one last look at the house. It was beautiful. So many memories to be left behind. But so many more will be created in Cheshire and I was looking forward to it now more than ever.
Luke was visibly upset and Mum was a little weepy. Dad and I rolled our eyes at each other.
"Come on, stop getting emotional" my Dad said wrapping an arm around my mother's shoulder.
I turned towards Luke and cautiously reached my hand out to touch his shoulder. I gave him a weak smile.
"We best be going then!" I exclaimed, attempting to lighten the mood.
Mum and Luke got into the car and Dad approached me.
"I'm so proud of you darling, you've been so grown up about all this." He said pulling me into a hug.
I snuggled into his chest. "I just want what's best for us all."
"I know." He said pulling back and looking as if he was examining me.
"My little girls all grown up." He pretended to wipe a tear.
I giggled and playfully slapped his arm.
"Come on" I said opening the car door tutting.
We were now all in the car and we drove off leaving our lives in Manchester behind.
I plugged in my ipod after 5 minutes already tired of the pointless chit chat my parents were ingaging in and the fart noises Luke was making with his armpits.
The Scientist by Coldplay came on and I became lost in the music. It made me stop thinking just for those short five minutes and focus on the lyrics and the soft sound of the piano, causing me to drift into a peaceful sleep.
--------------------------------------------
I was awoken soon after, by my father gently shaking me. I yawned and stretched out my arms.
"Welcome to our new home sweetheart." Dad cheerily spoke whilst aiding me out of the car.
I took me a couple of seconds to rid my distorted vision and see our new house clearly.
It was beautiful. Nothing too extravagant, but it was considerably larger than our house in Manchester and it already had a warm, family feel to it.
I turned to my father and smiled in approval.
"Come on, your mother and Luke are already inside."
Inside the house were all of our large cardboard boxes.
"I say we unpack the essentials, make up your beds and get a good nights rest. You'll need a good sleep as I want all hands on deck with the unpacking tomorrow." Mum instructed sipping on her tea.
We all trudged up the stairs where the nightmare of arguing over bedrooms, constructing beds and deciding where to put what began.
Authors Note
Ok, so my first chapter didn't get many reads. However, I'm still hopeful and maybe putting up another chapter will help.
Thanks if you have read, please give me some constructive criticism.
