I was sitting on a barstool, my laptop on the kitchen counter as I scrolled through my newsfeed on Facebook. I liked a couple of my friends 'selfies' even though they weren't up to much, and a photo of my cousins baby bump. Then I decided I needed a new profile picture myself so I plugged in my phone and uploaded a photo of Niall and I cuddling in a pile of leaves from the other day. Satisfied I logged out of Facebook and quickly glanced at my emails. There was the usual, an email from River Island advertising a sale, one about various upcoming events at uni and one from my nan who's just got to grips with the internet. I quickly typed a brief reply to my nan when another email caught my eye.
Dear Ella Jenkins
Last week I was lucky enough to attend the University of London's annual fashion show and witness some of the talent that young designers and aspiring models had to offer. I was especially impressed with the natural talent some of the amateur models had to offer. The purpose of this email to invite you to model some of my own clothing range at London Fashion Week next year.
Please get back to me as soon as possible so I can start organising outfits. This is a fantastic opportunity and many models have started their careers through fashion week. I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Amelia Sutton
My mouth dropped and my expression must have represented one of a goldfish. This had to be some kind of joke right? It was probably Tyler or someone messing with me.
I quickly typed in Amelia Sutton into Google. My eyes widened at the results. It was clear she was no Alexander McQueen or Vera Wang but it sure looked like this designer was making a name for herself here in London. According to the biography on her website her custom made clothing collections are frequently showcased around the country and she has two boutique stores. One in Manchester and one here in London. Why on earth would she want me to model anything for her. Surely someone like her would only want professionals. I had a quick look at some of her winter range and I was really impressed. I really liked this stuff.
"Lucy!" I called. She sauntered in shortly after.
"What do you make of this?" I asked getting up so she could sit down and read the email."
Her eyes scanned frantically as she read on. "Oh my god, Ella! This is incredible!" She screamed hugging me tightly.
"So wait, she's real?!" I asked excitement building inside of me.
"Of course she is! Her boutique in Manchester was literally my favourite place to shop!" She gushes. "You honestly have no idea how lucky you are to be offered something like this Ella. Something like this could kick start a career a modelling." She said shaking me by my shoulders. I couldn't help but beam and hug her back.
Was this something I even wanted? Modelling is never something I had even considered. It was nice to be offered something like this but surely I should be focusing on my studies. Lucy was probably exaggerating. I decided in that moment I would do it. For fun. For the experience. There was no way I could turn this into a career.
"I'm gonna do it!" I squealed.
"I'm so happy for you babe!" She squealed picking me up and spinning me around. "Quick email her now." She demanded, pushing me down on to the chair by my shoulders as she eagerly watched me begin to type.
What could the harm be? It was only another fashion show just like before. I still couldn't believe a professional actually wanted me to model their clothing. This was all a little bit surreal.
Lucy suddenly whacked me on the shoulder and her eye went wide with a new idea. "We should celebrate!" She gushed. "Let's have a party!"
"No, please no, you know I don't like a fuss." I pleaded.
"Well some sort of social feathering then, we could invite Tyler and Finn and some of the other girls we met at the show and Zayn and the rest of the boys could come."
"I don't know Luce, you know I hate attention."
"Well you'll have to get used to it when you become a Victoria Secret model!" she giggled. I joined her. Now she was just being ridiculous.
"I'll text Zayn and Tyler. Tyler can tell Finn and let Rosie, Sophia and Beth and some of the other girls know and we can go around to Louis's now and he can let the rest of the boys know."
"I'm not going to be able to talk you out of this am I?" I sighed.
She shook her head smirking. As much as I hated being the centre of attention, it was a nice idea. I'm not sure how comfortable I would be around Niall with Harry there too though. Especially with Louis watching on. I swear if he's said anything to Harry about my feelings I will kill him.
"Come on let's have a chat to Louis." She said practically pushing me out of the door.
------------------------------------
"Ella that's amazing news!" Louis congratulated me with a hug. "And if course I'm up for a party!"
"Social gathering." I corrected him receiving rolled eyes from both him and Lucy.
"So if you could let the other boys know. We were thinking this Saturday." Lucy added.
"Will do." Louis replied getting out his iPhone.
"Don't worry about texting Niall." I said. "I'm going round to his tonight."
"Ooooooh." Louis and Lucy said in unison. Louis wiggling his eyebrows at me suggestively. Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. But I couldn't help but blush.
"Well we better be off then, we'll see you Saturday." I turned to Louis hugging him.
"Don't forget to dress up for Niall." He said. "And Harry." he added, whispering this time. I pulled away from his embrace scowling. He just laughed at my silent response as Lucy and I made our way back to our own flat.
