A/N: just a short little romanogers drabble on Valentine's Day! Enjoy!
Valentine's Day. The day where happy couples would stroll around the park, hand in hand, talking to each other about life. The day where couples are all bunched up together in fancy restaurants, spending time with one another. Valentine's Day was full of love and joy.
In Natasha Romanoff's case, this day was the complete opposite.
She hated Valentine's Day. She hated it with a burning passion. It was that one time a year that made her feel disgusted. Seeing other couples happy made her feel angry inside.
Maybe it was the way they held hands. Maybe it was the way they kissed and showed some PDA.
But all she did know was, Valentine's Day was a day she would never forget. Valentine's was the day her ex-boyfriend Alexei left her. And ever since then, she's hated it. She's hated everything about it.
So, when the dreaded holiday did come, Natasha did her normal routine. Work out, eat and train. All was well, until her co-leader decided to bring Valentine's Day up.
Steve, on the other hand, loved the idea of Valentine's Day. Every year, he would visit Peggy's and his mother's grave and set flowers on top above their coffins for the most two special girls in his life. It was a bittersweet moment but, it was truly something special.
"Happy Valentine's Day, guys!" The Captain cheered to his teammates. All, except Natasha responded with a; "Happy Valentine's Day too, Cap."
Steve noticed her quietness and sat next to her, with his breakfast in his hands. Natasha looked at Steve, smiling towards her while sitting himself down beside her.
"Happy Valentine's Day, Tasha."
Natasha shrugged him off and continued to sip her coffee.
Steve frowned. "What's up, Nat?"
She turned to him, "I'm fine."
No you aren't. Steve thought.
"You're not fine, what's wrong Tasha?" Steve pleaded with his baby blue eyes.
No one, not even Natasha could resist those. Sighing, she told Steve everything. Everything about how Valentine's Day is just a normal day for her. Everything about how her asshole of an ex decided to make Valentine's the worst possible date for her. She told him everything.
"I didn't know, Tasha."
Natasha sighed, "It's not your fault, Steve. Look, if you're gonna do something to cheer me up, don't bother. I've got to train anyways."
She got up to leave but, Steve held her back.
"You're not leaving that fast, Romanoff. There's no training today. It's Valentine's Day."
Natasha groaned, "What the hell, Steve? Seriously? You're the worst."
Steve smirked. "Just trust me on this one. We'll do way better things than just training today, alright?"
The Widow rolled her eyes but, followed the Captain anyways.
"Why the hell do I have a blind-fold, Steve?" Natasha asked her co-leader who was currently surprising her with a fancy Valentine's dinner.
So far, he has gotten her to get dressed into her most fanciest dress ever and blind-folded her, much to her dismay.
Now, he was leading her to a cute little deck, which was decorated by fairy lights and hearts. In the middle, stood a little circle table and two chairs. It looked so magical.
"Trust me on this one, Nat. You're gonna love it."
He helped her get up the final step before taking off her blind-fold.
"Ta-da!" Steve exclaimed in happiness. Natasha looked flabbergasted. Never has she seen something so fairytale like. She felt her five year old self screaming inside. And the view of the lake and the moonlight just made everything seem more magical.
"Steve, this is so-so-wonderful. How did you-?"
"I told you, I was gonna make sure Valentine's Day would be a day you would never forget. In a good way, that is." The Captain scratched the back of his neck and blushed a little.
Natasha too, felt herself blush a little. No one has ever spoiled her like this before. Not even Alexei.
"Well, you certainly outdid yourself, Rogers. This is truly beautiful. Possibly the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." Natasha told him.
"Thanks, Nat. That means a lot." Steve smiled.
A waiter came along to the two and asked if they were ready to order.
"We'll order in just a second." Steve said and the two sat opposite each other, Steve being such a gentleman and pulling out Natasha's chair for her.
"Thanks Steve," Natasha held his hand tightly.
"For everything."
And before they both knew it, the Captain and the Widow leaned in for their first Valentine's kiss.
