Steve
At first, she was quite intimidating.
She rarely smiled nor laugh. The best she could give me was a simple nod of the head and there she went.
I was told she was a former KGB assassin. She was trained at a very early age how to manipulate, kidnap and murder people. People who were nearly twice her size.
S.H.I.E.L.D. was told to kill her themselves but, Clint Barton didn't think so. He made a different call, thus creating a friendly atmosphere between him and the infamous Black Widow.
I don't know how he managed to do it. Perhaps, he placed her under a spell? Or he could've done the ol' trick and socialized with her. Talk her out of it. Ultimately change her.
Whatever it was, I was determined to get to know her better too. Just as friends. But I couldn't help but steer myself away because she was much more intimidating.
After this battle with Thor's brother, Loki, I intended for our professional relationship go to a slightly more personal, more friendly.
I just needed time to figure out how.
1 Year Later
"Captain Rogers?" A S.H.I.E.L.D. assitant called out for the blue eyed, blonde haired Captain.
Steve turned his attention to the woman and she told him that Director Fury was expecting to see him now.
Confused, he followed the bright, young woman across the corridors and up the elevator, where he made eye contact - with his one good eye -.
"Ahh, Captain Rogers, what a nice time to see you again." He oddly greeted Steve as he entered inside of his great big office.
The Captain felt uncomfortable; there was a slight awkward atmosphere between the two.
Steve cleared his throat and nodded, "Sir."
And all of a sudden, Nick Fury's face went from jolly to his normal serious face.
"I've called you in because, this time of the year is, Changes Week."
Steve furrowed his eyebrows together as if he had no clue what he was talking about.
"It's just a change of partners, Captain. And since you, do not have a partner, we've assigned you to our greatest asset yet."
Steve nodded, understanding what he meant. A new partner meant a new trust was going to be built.
Trust and honesty was all he needed from his new partner, he couldn't care less if it was female or male.
"Agent Romanoff," Director Fury called for the red-head woman, also known as the Black Widow.
She walked out from the door behind and in she came, uniform all sleek and shiny, as if she was just getting ready for a battle.
"Natasha?" Steve whispered.
"Captain Rogers, meet your new partner in crime, Agent Romanoff."
She nodded and gave a little smirk and wink toward the American Captain.
"Captain Rogers,"
The two shook hands; Steve letting himself smile a little bit.
"I take it that you both already know each other?" Director Fury smiled a bit.
And before Steve could speak up, Natasha had explained everything from the battle in New York and whatnot.
"We've only really gotten to know each other during the battle in New York. But at that time, it was only strictly professionally." And she winked at the Captain before turning back to Director Fury.
He sighed, "You two are my best agents. And I'm pleased that the both of you are getting along."
Steve slightly relaxed his shoulders.
"But I trust you to not screw up anything. Got it?" Director Fury boomed sternly and both the Captain and the Widow nodded their heads. Quickly dismissing them to their usual routines, Steve and Natasha couldn't wait to become close partners and friends.
Needless to say, their friendship began to blossom. During short-term missions together, Natasha and Steve enjoyed their spare time, walking together, learning more and more about each other as time passed on.
The two became best of friends and ever since their Winter Soldier/HYDRA mission, they've leaned on each other ever since. Steve couldn't trust anyone better than Natasha and Natasha couldn't trust anyone better than Steve.
"If it was down to me to save your life, would you be honest with me, would you trust me to do it?"
"I would now,"
