"Just ask her out, man." Thor slapped his hand on Steve's shoulder. The Captain of the football team sighed out heavily crossed with frustration. It wasn't like it was difficult to ask an unknown but well respected aspiring journalist to prom. It was his reputation that was getting in the way.

With half of his football friends being completely assholes, their reactions to asking out a girl who's ranked a million times lower than his former head cheerleader of a girlfriend (Sharon Carter) would be priceless. And surprisingly not shocking at all.

The only gentleman or gentlemen who actually respected Steve's choices were best friends Thor Odinson and Sam Wilson. Both men were on the football team too and had no problem or a care in the world about a woman's reputation. Despite this, Sam still rooted for popular chicks. Fortunately, he managed to settle down with gymnast Maria Hill. He was the happiest.

Thor was dating a freaking straight A, science and fantasy geek and honor student. He didn't do it for the grades. He did it because of how different he saw this girl compared to anyone else. Although at times some girls threw themselves at him, Thor kept his word and never flirted back.

And that was Steve Rogers' problem.

He was known to be a former womanizer before he dated Sharon. Surprisingly, Sharon was the only serious relationship he has ever had.

His change of interest escalated quicker than expected when he had laid eyes on the red-headed beauty, Natasha Romanoff. Yes, the aspiring journalist who in fact is best friends with employed PA at Stark Industries, Pepper Potts. They didn't have a full on conversation but, a few small talk in English and History. 85% of the time was Steve reciting cheesy pick-up lines.

Natasha found them somewhat amusing and to Steve, it was a shrill of relief and joy exploding in his heart. His face melted when she smiled and laughed, as if made his day brighter than it already was.

She didn't see the way he looked at her, of course. He was out of bounds, in her book. Talking to him alone was an offense in the book of High School Cliques.

He didn't care about that.

He took none of that bullshit literally.

He claimed it as 'a Scam'.

So why was he still hesitating on asking her?

"Come on man, you know she's out of my league. The whole school thinks she's invisible." Steve lied through his teeth. It stung. Calling the girl whom he was falling for, invisible.

He was willing to change that. And not just to gain popularity. To show the school that impossible things can happen. To prove that it's not an offense to talk to someone out of your clique boundary.

Sam rolled his eyes, "So what if she's out of your league? She's perfect, dude. A drama free and no-fucks-given girl. That's the whole package. Plus she's cute."

"It'll make the school realize that the most popular guy can fall for an unknown girl." Thor reasons. It sounded extremely cliché, but all of it was true.

He craved Natasha so hard. She needed to finally know, and face the truth of being equal as anyone.

"Prom? With you?" Natasha questioned Steve and he nodded with a huge smile plastered on his face. He held a bouquet of roses in his hands, Natasha's gaze fixed on them then back to Steve.

"If this is a Punk'd reboot, you better be paying me." She says finally and walks away to her locker.

Steve doesn't let her slip out easily like that and chases for her. Natasha's taken back by surprise and looks a him with suspicion.

"Rogers, are you nuts? You know you're asking an outcasted and unknown girl out to prom?" And he nods like an idiot but smiles like one too. Natasha's flattered but continues to resonate with him.

"You're the Captain of the football team. You can't possibly like me. That's..impossible." Natasha shy's away blushing.

"And you're an aspiring journalist. Natasha, it doesn't matter about rank or levels or whatever crap that is. All I care is about me taking my crush to prom."

"You.. like me?"

"No shit,"

She chuckles and Steve apologizes quicker than Pietro Maximoff on the football field during a game.

"Yeah, Natasha. I do,"

Now she's smiling like an idiot.

It doesn't take her minutes to reply. Because at this point, she's leaped into his arms screaming "Yes. I do!"
