Again. The sound of a bullet shooting echoed. Again. Puddles of blood surrounded around her feet. Again. Now it was screams of a man that she had just murdered. Again. Killer. Cold blooded killer. Failure, you're a failure, Natalia.

She woke up, screaming and panting. Her palms were all sweaty and warm. Natasha shook her head, trying hard to catch her breath. Breathe, Romanoff. You're not one of their toys anymore.

Once Natasha had caught her breath, she pulled her bed covers off of her and made her way upstairs to the roof of Avengers Tower.

For the past week, the Avengers have visited Avengers Tower once again. Both the old and new Avengers stayed for a while, to catch up with one another since the incident. The new Avengers and their co-leaders were to return back to the Facility to begin the new training season. But for now, it was all fun and games.

It was a chilly Fall night. Natasha felt the cold, piercing breeze on her arms. It was cold but, it felt so refreshing after sweating all night. Natasha sighed, breathing in the New York atmosphere. Man, it's been a while since she's been out here. Usually when Natasha up the roof, she was stressed or wanting to get away from the idiots she calls family.

She sat down on her usual spot, feet dangling from the roof. It looked dangerous and scary but, to her, it was relaxing.

Natasha had a perfect overview of the City that Never Sleeps, lights and cars blaring everywhere. To her, this is what she called home. She felt secure.

"Amazing view, isn't it?" A deep, oh-so-familiar voice called out from behind her. Natasha was startled and realized who it was.

"Always is." Natasha responded whilst Steve sat down beside her.

Natasha looked over to him, "Nightmare?"

The Captain nodded. "Yep. You too?" Natasha nodded too. "They're the worst."

Steve sighed, "Yeah, never really goes away, does it? Just keeps repeating itself all over again. Like a broken record."

"Mhm."

It went quiet for a while, only the breeze was talking.

"Was it the Red Room?" Steve asked out of nowhere during the awkward silence. Natasha turned towards the Captain. "I beg your pardon?"

"Red Room? Nightmares?" He asked once again.

Natasha hesitated to say yes. "I was, -I was shooting these..innocent people. They didn't deserve to die."

Steve listened closely.

"I just, don't wanna be remembered as one of their killing machines anymore. But, I know deep inside that I am. I know deep inside that, that identity is engraved in me."

"Stop, Natasha, please."

She got up from her position, dusting off the shells that were on the roof.

"Natasha, what you were before, you aren't now."

"I know, Steve. I know."

Steve stood up from his position too and grabbed her arm and made her face him.

"What you are now, is different. You're no killing machine. You're a goddamn badass Avenger. You're one of the bravest women that I have ever met."

Natasha smiled.

"Don't ever call yourself that ever again, Natalia because honey, I know you. You have saved dozens and hundreds of lives." He placed his palm on her cheek.

Surprisingly her cheek was warm.

"Thanks, Steve."

He smiled back at her.

"For believing in me."
