Literally wrote this super quickly. Lauren shot this idea out last night and it was too irresistible to not do. It's a shorty, but here we go.

Happy Valentine's day!

"Aunt Kirstie's coming to babysit tomorrow night, okay?" Mitch half questioned, half stated, as he put the plate of pancakes in front of his daughter.

"But why?" Sophia asked with a mouth full of pancakes.

"Honey, no talking with your mouth full. And your daddy and I are going out on a date for Valentine's Day." Mitch went to set Scott's plate down in front of him, but took it back, leaning down and puckering his lips, silently demanding a kiss in exchange for his breakfast. Scott rolled his eyes but quickly gave in, unable to resist the plate of food, or his husband's lips. Mitch smiled in satisfaction as he set the plate down and went back to the stove.

"Eww no kissing!" Sofia giggled and covered her eyes.

Scott laughed at his little girl, she may only be four but she sure acted like a teenager already. "But what if I like kissing papa? Then what?"

She took no time in thinking of her response. "But it's gross daddy!"

"Then don't look." Mitch walked over and grabbed Scott's face, kissing him again. Sophia groaned as she took another bite. "Soph, I need to get a new shirt for tomorrow so we're gonna go do a little shopping today okay? When you're done eating go get dressed."

The family of three sat quietly eating their breakfast, before Sophia spoke up.

"Papa I wanna get a new dress and go on a date too."

Both men coughed at the unexpected demand, unsure of how to handle the situation.

"Um, you need to wait at least twenty five more years young lady." Scott stated as without even a hint of sarcasm.

Mitch rolled his eyes a bit, before an idea popped in his mind. "What if daddy took you on a date tonight? We'll get you a new dress and you two can go to a fancy restaurant and a movie."

Sophia's eyes lit up and her dimpled smile took over her face. "Just me and daddy? Can I dress like a princess? He always calls me princess."

"Just me and you pumpkin. You help papa find a shirt for tomorrow and he'll help you find a new dress for tonight. I'm off to work, so I'll see you ladies tonight." Scott kissed both Mitch and Sophia before leaving the house.

The two quickly finished their breakfast, getting ready to spend the day together. After taking a couple hours to find the

princess dress for Sophia and a shirt for Mitch, they went to have lunch and get their nails done. This was one of those times where Mitch was happy they had a daughter, someone to do all these girly things with. He loved spending this time with her and was really excited for Sophia to spend quality time with her daddy tonight. He was pretty sure the whole thing would be too cute for words and he'd melt, but at least he wouldn't cry... Scott on the other hand... Who knows.

No one was more excited though than little Sophia. She talked about her 'date' all day. How she got her daddy all to herself, how her daddy would treat her like a lady and take her to a fancy 'dinner place.' She jumped around all day and had more energy than Mitch could ever remember her having.

Evening came and Mitch treated Sophia like the princess she was. He curled her blonde hair and pinned it up, put some 'makeup' on her and a little bit of lipgloss, and put a necklace and some bracelets on her.

Scott started to walk into the room but Mitch was quick to push him right out. "Not uh, you can't see your date just yet. You have to go ring the doorbell and she has to walk down the stairs and you have to be in awe of how pretty she is and I have to take pictures and don't you know how these things go?"

"Mitch she's four. What's the big deal?"

"The big deal is that you're her first Valentine and you better set her expectations high for whoever she decides to date later." Mitch fixed Scott's tie and gave him a kiss. "Now, go outside and ring the doorbell."

Scott sighed as he stepped outside, shutting the door, only to ring the doorbell and have Mitch open it two seconds later.

"Soph! Your handsome date is here to pick you up!"

Scott really was in awe of how beautiful his daughter looked. Her little red dress made her dark eyes pop, along with her curly blonde hair. Her little black heels clacked against the stairs as she ran down as fast as she could with a smile on her face. Scott had to stop himself from imagining his little girl in ten years walking down the stairs to an actual date.

"Hey princess!" Scott pick her up and spun her around, a giggling Sophia wrapping her arms around his neck. "You are the prettiest girl I've ever seen." Scott kissed her cheek and set her down.

"Daddy are those

flowers?!" Sophia's eyes widened at the yellow roses in her daddy's hands.

"Of course they are sweetheart. Flowers for my favorite girl." Sophia took the flowers from him and turned to Mitch.

"Papa! Daddy got me flowers like he gets you all the time! They smell pretty." Sophia was absolutely glowing, loving all the attention she was receiving.

"They look pretty too! I'll take them and put them in a vase for you okay." Mitch grabbed the flowers and walked to the kitchen.

"Daddy I can twirl in my dress like a real princess and papa got me a crown like a real princess!" She jumped up and down clapping her hands.

Sophia giggled as Scott grabbed her hand and twirled her around, her dress flowing out.

"Okay I have to get pictures before you leave. Go stand in front of the fire place." Mitch directed as he grabbed his phone.

Scott squatted down to be Sophia's height and they both made silly faces. Like father like daughter.

"Hey!" Mitch laughed, not surprised in the least that they both instinctively made funny faces. They were more alike than Mitch cared to admit. "I want nice pictures. Smile!"

Mitch's favorite picture that night was of Scott kissing Sophia's cheek, with Sophia giggling and hiding her smile behind her hands.

They put on their jackets and Mitch began his fatherly duty. "Alright, I expect you to get her home on time, no later than 8. You better treat her nicely too. OPen her car door, pull out her chair, the works." Mitch gave his little girl a quick kiss goodbye, "You look so beautiful tonight sweetpea. I love you, have fun!"

"Papa," Sophia whined, pulling on Scott's arm to hopefully make them go faster. Her four year old self couldn't handle waiting any longer.

"Love you too Honey." Mitch gave Scott a kiss goodbye and Sophia immediately interjected.

"Hey! Don't kiss my date! Daddy is all mine tonight, remember?" She folded her arms and made the most angry face she could manage, while the boys just laughed.
