My phone blares Panic! At The Disco's, Death of a Bachelor. I roll over on my bed and grab it.
"What?" I ask rudely, in a groggy voice, expecting it to be Louise.
"Is this Ella Mitchell?" a man asks. "I'm Matt Sohinki, one of the guys that interviewed you the other day."
I immediately pull the phone away from my ear and my eyes widen. Shit. I put the phone back up to my ear.
"Oh, sorry for answering like a complete bitch. I thought you were my friend, Louise, and I literally just woke up," I say.
"Oh. It's fine. I know there's a difference in the time zone and what not. I was just calling to tell you, you got the job," he says. "You were ridiculously funny and you said you already know how to edit and film, so we think you're the best pick for the internship."
"Really?" I ask in excitement.
"Yup. I'll email you the rest of the details because I have to go record, but I know that Ian and Anthony want to have you flown out next week. They said that your interview was the best and they want you here asap."
"You recorded my interview?" I ask.
"Yeah. Ian and Anthony had stuff to do and they left it to me, David, and Joshua to do the interviews, but they wanted to see the interviews too," he explains.
"Oh. Okay then," I say.
"Well, I've got stuff to record, so I have got to go, but I'll send you the rest of the details in an email."
"Okay. Bye." I hang up. A week? One week, to get my stuff packed and fly to L.A. Wow. This is really happening right now.
"I got the internship!" I exclaim in delight jumping out of bed. I get in the shower, get dressed, and brush through my hair quickly. I run down the street to the coffee shop to look for Louise. I see David standing at the counter. I run up to the counter.
"Where's Louise?" I ask.
"She's in the back, but I can go get her-"
"Go," I say quickly. Louise comes running out.
"What? What is it?" she asks in a worried tone.
"I got the internship!" I exclaim loudly. She squeals and hugs me.
"I told you you'd get it," she says in my ear. I smile.
"I know and I was worried for nothing," I say. She releases me from the hug.
"When do you leave?" she asks.
"Next week," I say.
"What?" she asks in a quiet voice.
"Yeah. It was a little short notice, but Ian and Anthony said they wanted me in California in a week."
"Oh," she says starting to walk back behind the counter.
"Don't be sad, Lou, you knew I was going to leave," I say. She turns around.
"Don't be sad? I thought you'd be leaving in like a month, not a fucking week! I'll be alone in our apartment in a week and I don't know how to cope with that," she says.
"I'm sorry, Lou, I thought I'd have more time too but-"
"Save it, Ella, I don't want one of your speeches right now," she says turning and walking back behind the counter. David gives me a sympathetic look, but continues working. I walk out of the coffee shop and back to the apartment. Better get packing.

Lasercorn's P.O.V.
I walk into the recording room to record GTS, but Sohinki and Joven are huddled over Joven's computer in the corner. They're watching someone play video games.
I walk over to them and peer over them to see what they're watching. They're watching Ella playing the first Sims game. That looks like her when we were in high school.
"How old is this video?" I ask.
"It's pretty old. Ella mentioned something about high school, so," Joven trails off. She started a YouTube channel when we were in high school to play video games and other things. I just hope they don't click on one of the videos with me in it.
"Oh, this one has a thumbnail with a guy that looks like you, Lasercorn," Sohinki says. I look at the thumbnail. That is me. When I was in high school. Joven clicks on it.
"Sup, bitches, today I'm here with my friend, David," young Ella says. Sohinki and Joven look at me. "and today we're playing Mario, but with a twist, every time we die in the game we have to eat three of these black licorice jelly beans," she explains holding up a bag of black jelly beans. Joven pauses the video.
"Is... Is that you?" he asks. I hesitate for a second, then nod.
"You know Ella?" Sohinki asks. I nod.
"We were best friends in high school and I had a huge crush on her, but we never actually got together because I moved to California to get a job and she left to go to college. We didn't exactly part ways on good terms either. I never thought I'd see her again, but during that interview... I fell in love with her again, but I don't think she even remembers me," I say. Sohinki and Joven share a look, then look back at me.
"We're going to help her remember," they say.
