The next morning, I wake up on the couch. Mari is on the floor passed out and Courtney is on the other couch. The TV is on and playing reruns of Spongebob. I chuckle and shut it off. I walk into the kitchen and start making breakfast for the three of us.
I heard groan come from the living room as I set out plates for us. I put some eggs, bacon, and toast onto each plate. Courtney sits up and rubs her eyes. Her hair is a tangled mess.
"Mornin', sunshine," I say with a laugh. She just stares at me. "There's food on the counter." She gets up and makes her way to the counter, sitting on a stool and digging into the food. I wake Mari up and we all sit in the kitchen eating breakfast.
"Hey, Ella." Lasercorn's voice is accompanied by a few loud knocks. I set my now empty plate in the sink and walk over to the door. I open it and Lasercorn stands outside.
"What?" I ask.
"I was wondering if you wanted to play some games, but I see Mari and Courtney are here," he says. "I don't want to intrude on that."
"Nah, it's fine. Come on in," I say. "But I'm going to go take a shower first."
When I get out of the shower, Mari, Lasercorn, and Courtney are sitting on the couch playing Call of Duty together.
"Shit, I died again," Courtney groans laying back and pretending like she was dead. I laugh and grab the fourth controller and start playing with them.
"Mari and I have to get to work, actually, but you guys have fun," Courtney says standing up off the couch. Mari stands up as well. They gather their thing and walk out the door, leaving Lasercorn and I sitting alone.
The silence wasn't awkward, but it wasn't pleasant either. We sat on the couch, Call of Duty was paused. Lasercorn looks at me.
"I need to tell you something," he says, finally breaking the silence. I nod.
"I'm all ears," I say.
"Ella, I'm incredibly, incredibly, in love with you," he starts off. My eyes widen, but I let him continue. "I know that you're kind of torn between Mark and I, but I want to get this out. I've been in love with you since I met you. Leaving to come to California was the hardest thing I've ever done and I know you hated me at that point in time. But I think you were brought to Smosh Games for a reason, we were brought back together for a reason." I sit in silence for a few minutes, processing his words.
"David, I-"
"You don't have to say anything, Ella. If you don't feel the same-"
"Let me finish, David," I say. "I love you too... but I also love Mark. And when June comes around, I'm going back home to see Louise."
"Wait," he says quietly. "You're going home?"
"Only for a couple months, then I'll be back," I say. "I'm going to Michigan for a month to see Louise, then spend a week or two in Ohio with my family. I'll get to see my brother and my mom."
"So, you'll be gone all summer? June starts in like a week, El," he says. I nod.
"I know and I already talked to Ian and Anthony about it. Don't worry, I'll be back, I just won't be in Smosh Summer Games."
"Maybe, I could come with you," he suggests. I shake my head.
"Dave, you should stay here. I think the fans would be disappointed not seeing you for a whole two and a half months," I say. He nods.
"I'll miss you," he says.
"I know."
