We pull into the driveway of a small white house. Sohinki, Joven, and Lasercorn get out of the car and start walking toward the door. I grab my backpack and get out of the car running to catch up with the boys. Lasercorn knocks on the door and a man opens the door. He has light brown, Justin Beiber hair.
"Hey, guys and girl," he greets. The boys walk in and immediately go to sit on the couch. I stand at the doorway.
"Are you a vampire and need to be invited in?" he jokes. I hiss at him as I walk into the house. He chuckles and closes the door behind him.
"So, you're Ella," he says.
"Nope, I'm her twin sister," I say sarcastically with a smile. walks out into the living room.
"Well, Ella's twin sister, I'm Ian," He says holding out his hand. I shake it. Another man walks into the living room. He's got dark brown hair and is wearing a Smosh t-shirt.
"I'm Anthony," he says holding out his hand. I shake it.
"I'm Ella," I say. He releases my hand and motions to the couch.
"Have a seat," he says. I sit on the larger of the two couches. "So, Ella, how good are you at video games?"
"Well, I guess it depends on the game," I reply. He nods.
"How about Mario?" Anthony asks.
"Oh, I'm awesome at Mario. On my YouTube channel when I was in high school, my best friend and I played Mario and if we died we had to eat black licorice jelly beans," I giggle. "I got good at the game during that recording session. I hate black licorice."
Anthony nods approvingly. He hands me a Wii controller.
"How about some Mario?" he asks. I nod.
"Hells yeah!" I exclaim."Shit!" I exclaim as I get killed by Bowser. Anthony laughs.
"Uh, me, Sohinki, and Joven gotta go," Lasercorn says. "We've got some stuff at work to do."
"Alright," Anthony says. "Bye."
There's a chorus of byes and they leave. I look at Anthony, then Ian.
"So, more Mario?" I ask.
"Hells yeah!" Anthony mocks my voice from earlier."Are you spending the night here then?" Ian asks. I nod.
"I have to put my bed frame together still in my apartment and I thought you guys wanted me to say here for tonight anyway?"
"Yeah. I'll give you a ride to your apartment tomorrow so you can get settled," Ian says. I nod.
"Here," Anthony say throwing a blanket at me. It hits me and covers my face. Anthony and Ian chuckle. "I'm going to bed. We've got some recording to do in the morning."
"Night."
"So, you found your way around the office okay today?" Ian asks.
"Yeah. I wasn't expecting to get my own office though," I say. "It was a nice surprise."
"Yeah, well, we thought you'd like to have your own office," Ian says with a warm smile.
"Well, thank you," I say.
"For what?"
"This job, letting me stay here tonight... Everything," I say. He smiles and pats the couch twice.
"I should get to bed too."
"Okay goodnight, Ian," I say.
"Goodnight, Ella," he says. The next morning, Ian drives me to my apartment building. I open the car door and look back at him smiling.
"Thank you, Ian," I say.
"I just drove you here," he says. "It's not that big of a deal."
I smile and get out of the car swinging my backpack over my shoulder. I turn and wave at him. He waves and pulls away from the curb. I walk into the building. I walk up to the front desk.
"I'm Ella Mitchell and I need my key for my apartment," I say shyly. The man behind the counter nods and grabs a key and hands it to me.
"Thanks," I say. I ride the elevator up to the second floor of the six story building. I walk along the hall looking for my apartment number 3-B.
Once I find it I unlock the door. I walk in and see the living room directly in front of me. Through a small archway to my left is a kitchen and to my right is a hallway that must lead to the bathroom and my bedroom. I set my backpack down next to the door and walk into the living room. Boxes of my things are stacked filling the living room. There's already furniture in the living room. A couch sits at the back wall and a love seat sits adjacent next to it. A T.V. stand is on the wall across from the couch. There's no T.V. though. I walk down the hall and open the first door to the left. It's a bathroom.
I open the door to my bedroom. My mattress is leaned against the wall. A box with all the parts to build my bed frame is next to the mattress. There's a dresser next to the door, but otherwise the room is empty.
"Ugh, I don't feel like building that," I groan. I walk out of my bedroom and into the room across the hall. It has a desk and two bookshelves, but that's it.
"This place needs something," I mumble to myself. "I don't know what though."By six o'clock I'm done unpacking all my stuff. The only thing I have to do it build my bed frame. I groan and plop down on the couch.
A knock sounds at the door. I get up from the couch and go answer it.
Sohinki and Lasercorn stand there. They seem surprised when I open the door.
"Hey?"
"Hey, Ella, we didn't think that you moved in to our apartment building," Sohinki says.
"Then what are you doing here?" I ask.
"We came to welcome the new neighbor, but it's you and you already know us," Lasercorn says. I nod.
"Is there anything you need?" Sohinki asks. I think for a second. Then look at them and nod.
"Can you help me build my bed frame?"
"Uh, sure," They say. I give them a devious smile. They look at each other unsure about what I'm making them do. We walk into my room and I give them the box. They groan, But build the bed frame for me anyway."So, do you guys want anything to drink or-?" I ask. Sohinki shakes his head.
"Do you have coffee?" Lasercorn asks. I nod. I walk out and into the kitchen. Then, I get an idea. I'm going to see if this really is David from high school. I make a new pot of coffee and pour it into a cup. I put two spoonfuls of sugar and a little bit of creamer like David used to drink all the time. I bring the coffee to him. He takes it from my hands and takes a sip.
"That's like perfect," Lasercorn says. "How'd you know to make it like that?"
"Oh, uh," I shrug. "I dunno." He doesn't remember me I guess...
