Marshal's POV

Grimsley was acting extremely weird and it was starting to scare me. After Alder had come over and found out about us he hardly came out the room he stayed in. I tried to reassure him that he was safe, but that didn't help anything. The other weird thing was that he hardly ate anymore. I'd give him some meat, and the next day it'd be in the trash. It was starting to scare me. I didn't know if he was sick... Or if vampires even got sick, and I was too scared to go around town and ask for help. If I did I didn't know if I'd accidentally let slip that I had a vampire living with me. All I could do was wait...

We were both sitting in my main room. I had finally convinced him to come out of hiding and be actually social with me. He was sitting on the other end of the couch, curled into a ball. He was extremely pale and he was staring at the wall. I could see him faintly shaking, which concerned me. I leaned over.

"Hey Grimsley, are you doing ok," I asked.

Grimsley jumped visibly at my words and turned to me. I saw his eyes instantly fix onto my arm and I felt a pang of fear course through me momentarily. I knew he wouldn't bite me purposely but...

"Are you doing ok?" I repeated.

Grimsley tore his eyes away from my arm and looked at me. His eyes seemed unfocused... Hazy... Almost unclear. That worried me to no end, but I didn't know how I was supposed to help him... If I could help him. Grimsley shook his head and smiled at me. I noticed his fangs were poking out more than usual.

"Who me," he asked, tipping his head to the side, "I'm fine! There's no way I can't be fine! Don't you worry you're sweet little head about me!"

I knew he was hiding something, but there wasn't any way I could pry about it. Besides I knew that he'd tell me what was bothering him in time... Hopefully... I didn't like it when people kept things from me. I blinked and touched his arm gently. I saw him shudder and his eyes fell upon my arm again.

"Grimsley, you can tell me anything... I won't judge you..." I said weakly, hoping to break through to him somehow.

Grimsley let out a soft whine and I saw his fangs poking out from under his top lip. I saw him give a massive shudder and he turned away from me instantly. I blinked in fear and pulled my hand away slightly, feeling a little nervous about his sudden behavior change.

"G-Grimsley?"

Without warning the vampire quickly turned on me and reached for me. He grabbed my arm and I cried out in pain as I felt his teeth sink into my wrist. I instinctively lashed out and I felt my fist connect with the side of his face. Grimsley shrieked in pain and released my wrist. I jumped to my feet and I noticed him still crouched on the couch. He had blood on the corners of his mouth and he licked his lips. He turned to me again then he lunged for me. I dodged skillfully, thankful for my training with Alder, and I bolted to the stairs. I heard a loud thumping noise, probably Grimsley hitting a wall from me dodging him, and I raced into my room. I slammed my door shut and locked it, and just for good measures I pulled my nightstand over and put it against the door.

I leaned against my bedroom wall, breathing heavily. My wrist was throbbing painfully and was bleeding quite badly, and I knew that I didn't have any bandages around me. I hissed in frustration and got to my feet and went to my closet. I pulled out a black shirt and pressed it against my bleeding wrist. It wasn't bandaging, but it would at least stop my bleeding wrist.  My heart was racing and I felt my stomach drop.

I can't believe it... I thought he said... I thought he said he was different! I can't believe he lied to me... I thought, feeling anger surge through me, I'll never trust him again! That bastard, I never should've trusted him!!

Grimsley's POV

I groaned and opened my eyes. What had happened? The last thing I had remembered was sitting on the couch with Marshal but then everything had gone black and now I was sitting on the floor. I hadn't ever done that before, so it was a little unnerving that I had just randomly blacked out.

Ugh... Where is Marshal...? I thought, getting to my feet.

I hunched over almost instantly, feeling my stomach clench in pain. I was so hungry, I could hardly handle it anymore. I heard whimpering from upstairs and that made me tense up almost instantly.

"Liepard?" I called, making my way to the stairs.

I clung to the railing of the stairs as I walked up them. Something felt really off, and it scared me. What if I had done something bad while I had blacked out? What if I had hurt Marshal? I didn't think I could live with myself if I knew I had hurt Marshal... At the top of the stairs Liepard was lying outside of Marshal's room. She lifted her head as I walked up and let out a pitiful mew. I looked at the door and walked up.

"Marshal, you ok in there," I asked, knocking softly.

There was a slight scuffle from the room then there was a loud thud on the door, causing me to jump back.

"Get the fuck away from me!" Marshal yelled from the other side of the door.

I blinked in shock, and I felt slightly hurt by his words. Ok, I knew I screwed up a lot but it certainly wasn't cause for this sudden eviction... Right?

"Marshal what's up," I asked, trying to keep my voice steady, "What did I do this time? If it's about the messes I'll start cleaning up, I swear!"

My tone was light, but I still felt a little concerned for my safety. Marshal didn't seem like he was in a great mood at the time. The man on the other side of the door let out a harsh and angry laugh.

"Are you seriously trying to blow this off," he snarled, "You fucking bit me! Just get out of here before I make you!!"

His words made my blood, if I had any, run cold. I had... Bitten Marshal? I almost didn't believe his words until I licked my lips and tasted the familiar irony taste of blood and my heart sank. It was true... I had actually... Bitten Marshal! I looked at Liepard and I sighed softly, turning away from the door completely. If I lost control like this once, there was no telling if I'd actually do it again... I was a danger to Marshal...

"Come on Liepard, let's go..." I said weakly before walking out.

As the two of us walked out, I couldn't help but look back. It was hard to accept the fact that I'd never see this place again; the place that gave me sanctuary when everyone else turned me away... The place that kept me fed... But now I had nowhere else to go... Unless...

Well... I guess I have no other choice... I thought, taking a deep breath and walking into the forest.

A few hours later

"Ugh... I'm gone for a few weeks and I already forget where the village is," I hissed, smacking away twigs and branches as I walked.

I was on my way back to the village... My home... I knew they wouldn't accept me back unless I complied to their wishes, and that's what I was going to do. I heard the bushes around me rustle and I froze, looking at the bushes. I smiled weakly.

"Wow, you truly are sneaky," I said sarcastically, crossing my arms, "I totally didn't know anyone was there."

The bushes rustled more wildly and a figure walked out. I sighed with relief when I saw it was just Caitlin. She'd be more understanding than the others. She sighed and looked at me.

"Grimsley, what are you doing back here," she asked, sounding tired, "You know if you're spotted you'll be killed..."

I smiled weakly and I looked at her. I couldn't believe I was actually going to go through with this, but I had to... There was no other way.

"Caitlin," I said, holding my head high, "I'm ready to become a full vampire."
