There was nowhere

Frisk

Walking through the snow right after the ruin door fills me with nostalgia. Toriel feeding me butterscotch pie, leaving her after I give her mercy, and finally the coldness of the snow reinforcing the feeling of being alone. But my Determination helped me keep moving forward, until I finally met Sans.

The very first time... the first time I walked through this world, I was in control. I didn't know Chara, and I was just trying to get back to the surface. When I met Sans, I was scared, but his stupid puns made me laugh...

And when I broke the barrier, I was sure I've finally found my happy ending. With Toriel as my mother, Sans and Papyrus not too far down the road, Undyne and Alphys getting engaged.

I was only on the surface for a month when the reset hit. And when I woke up in that field of flowers, facing Flowey, I found I couldn't move my body. But someone else could.

"Frisk." The smoky voice pulls me out of my head and back to the stretch of road covered in snow.

"Umm?"

"What are you thinking about?"

"Oh," I can get kind of zoned out when remembering. "Just the first time I was down here, that's all." I look at G, the fingers on his left hand twitches.

He's quiet for a moment, but says, "Sans remembers that too. He didn't know what you could do, and he honestly was ready to kill you."

He looks at me, giving me a wink. "Good thing he didn't, or else I'd be without such a pretty face."

I raise an eyebrow. "So superficial. Sans was never like that. Where do you get that from?"

For a moment, he's still, then he pulls out his devil may care smile.

"Doll face, I'm not Sans." There's an edge to his voice, but it disappears as he continues, "And Sans knows how to control himself. Gaster, however, is very blunt about things. Hehe, bad combination I guess..." He trails off, keeping his smile up.

Bad combination.

"So, if I wasn't pretty, what would you be doing right about now?" I ask, wanting to keep the conversation up so the memories don't over take me.

His fingers brush across his mouth, as if expecting to find something waiting there. Disappointed, he sighs, "Probably killing Chara."

I stare at him, and he grins a smile that is either mischievous or predatory. I can't tell if he's screwing around with me, or if he's dead serious.

Sans is not naturally the violent, or even killer type. He only does what he has to and he has killed Chara a thousand times before. But that statement could have come from Sans himself. As much as he cares about me, he knows I would rather be dead with Chara then alive while with him. Having Chara here, in the back of my mind like an anxious thought, could be catastrophic. Now that everyone is happy and living on the surface...

Almost everyone.

"Hey, it's a joke, doll. Don't worry about it." G says softly. I sense the tone in his voice, he's afraid he's scared me.

I shake my head, and look at him with a cheesy smile.

"Well that joke wasn't really killer, was it?"
