When Time Stops

Timer:

For however long it takes to find your soulmate, a timer will count down to the second that you meet them.

(Mystogan)

Her shimmering (h/c) hair. Her blissful (e/c) irises. Time flutters when I'm near her. She's my world, my serene one in Earthland. Her words are like beautiful music to my ears and her personality sends my body afloat. I'm so in love with her that I can't fathom a world without her. I can't imagine life without her. Her touch sends me to whatever higher plane there is.

But here, I'm not hers and she is not mine. She is his and I'm alone. She is my Earthland twins. She is alone and forgotten when I was right here. A dishonored princess in this world, a forgotten rose in a field of poppy's. She is a snowflake, unique in every aspect, every curve and sharp edge. I left my world before I could meet my soulmate there. It didn't matter to me.

But my clock kept ticking. Kept clicking, flicking, mimicking, mocking. It told me that I would go back. It told me that I'd meet her. Not that I didn't care for her, I'm sure I'd love her, but at the moment, I only wanted (Y/N).

(Y/N) Fernandez.

Married to Jellal Fernandez. My doppelgänger. I wanted her to be mine, but all I could do was simply watch as she lost her soulmate to anger and selfishness. She met him when she was young. She told me that she fell in love instantly. She stayed at the tower with him, she atoned for all the sins she committed. She married him young, she left with Fairy Tail. A simple story that she hates to talk about. Because it hurts her to talk about the independent guild he's in now. It's hard to talk about how she missed him, how painstaking it was to remember their happier memories.

And so, when the time came that everyone learned of my identity. When the time came that I had to reveal about my world, I dreaded it. I would never see the one woman who I kept coming back too anymore. She was the reason I returned from missions. She was my sunshine, but she wasn't mine.

Four more hours, six more minutes, thirty-nine more seconds. I gave Lucy and Gajeel Magic pills and began my quest home. I wanted to return to the castle. I wanted to talk to my father. The lost prince they called me. I pulled my head gear up and adjusted my cloak, making sure it didn't fall any time soon.

I dragged my feet, traveling through the alleys and sticking to the dark, unsure of myself in my own home.

I paced down an alley, searching for the Fairy Tail members. They had to hurry, and so had I. Just as I turned the corner, I found Natsu and Lucy talked to a girl, who bobbed her head quickly to whatever question she was asked. Her body hunched and she looked angry now. White flames erupted from her hands and engulfed her body. She had somehow gained magic in this sad world.

"Oi, cloak, stop watching from the shadows. It doesn't help your rep if you're in the presence of the dark guild Fairy Tail," the girl threatened, turning quickly.

"Name's (Y/N) (L/N), cloak. And it seems that you're mine."

She wasn't her, but she was everything. She was mine in this world, but not in the other. I pulled my head gear off and ran to her, engulfing her in my arms. She looked up at me, her personality becoming softer, her voice becoming lighter. She wasn't the switched version of Earthland (Y/N). She was exactly the same. And she was still just as heart stopping.

"Jellal, we have to go. (Y/N) knows a secret passage to the castle, but we have to hurry," Lucy explained.

"Alright. Let's go," I said. (Y/N) weaved her fingers through mine and leaned on my shoulder. We began our way to the underground, where our lives changed and where I never let her go.

When Natsu and I fought, her body didn't glow and disappear. Her fingers weaved through mine and she stood at my side. She didn't leave me. She never left my side. And I could finally call her my own. Even though I fell in love with the second, the first was always mine, and she never gave up.

When her and I first met, time didn't flitter, didn't flutter, didn't skitter, not like the mere greetings of Earthland (Y/N). No. When time stopped, it was when I met her, when time stopped I met the love of my life. And when I told her about everything, she merely pressed her lips against mine and whispered the few words that made time freeze forever;

"And you're the love of mine."
