AU (Prince!Natsu x Reader)

-Like My Fair Lady-

( Y / N )

It was the summer. Bees roamed the skies looking for a beautiful flower buds. The daisies - of all colors - were in bloom. The grass was greener and the thinking tree was livelier than usual. The thinking tree had its limbs hanging far enough to touch the earth. We always said that the tree longed to touch the earth delicately, as an apology for taking root so desperately. The thinking tree was sacred, far in the woods, past the castle and hidden within the meadows. They say you could hear the faintest roars of dragons in the meadows. We, once ruled by them, with a king of fire. They said his true form was revealed in the meadows.

Though, the king had gone missing, leaving his only son and heir in position for the thrown. The people knew the prince well, he was a kind soul, willing to fight for those he cared for, to fight for his homeland. Though, the prince is very loud and homely. He rivals with the Duke of Ice, left by his master to rule the land by his own. The Celestial Duchess was a delight and had men falling at her feet, while the Duke of Iron and the Duchess of Script were betrothed. The Duchess of Water fawned over the Duke of Ice, and you, you were just a villager.

A villager who accessed the meadows daily. A villager who once owned a kingdom. A villager with a dragon as a father. A kind man he was, a great king before he left, much like the king of fire left the prince. Unlike the prince, you had an older brother. He didn't want you to stay in the light of the kingdom, to be betrothed. So he allowed you a safe passage to the kingdom you now stayed. You had your riches, but only a small fortune until you got onto your feet.

Your frail fingers were only good for one thing, and that was quick fighting. You knew pressure points and had speed like a cheetah. Your abilities had men on their knees in seconds. So you opened a dojo, deep in the mountains of the kingdom and went to the meadows to relieve your stress.

You had several underlings, being men and women alike, as well as children in need of self defense. Some of your underlings became great fighters within the army, able to withstand more than one thousand men before falling. Endurance was one of the first things you taught. To sit under a waterfall was to building strength and patience. To live in the woods was to become one. This was everything your father taught you, patience and speed. He was the king of nature, one with the earth and the trees. The forest backsplash was just a reminder of your home, a reminder of the everyday life you once lived.

It wasn't long before you attracted attention. Many heard of the woman in the meadow. Your underlings dare not to reveal your location. Only those in dire need find your dojo. So when palace guards arrived at the doorstep of your dojo, you let them in, you brought them tea, and you chatted with their leader, General Erza.

She spoke of your past underlings, how so few fell in battle. Seven of them remained alive, strong ones they were. Not many leave your dojo without proper training. And each are put into various scenarios you have once faced. Only the best graduate, and only the best survive on the outside. Erza spoke to you about a war, they were fighting a neighboring country, and their land was in tatters. They needed help.

You declined. When you heard the full story, you declined again. You declined when she threatened. You declined when money was offered. You declined everything.

They were fighting your brothers country. They were against your homeland. They forcefully wished to have you returned. Your brother was sick and their new leader was in another country. The people of your country slandered the truth and made it seem like this country kidnapped you.
