~It's Never Me~

•Gray x Reader•

{Based off of a True Story: My Life}

( Y / N )

It started in the 7th grade. Your love for him grew to the point where you didn't know if it was love anymore. It felt like infatuation. You had met him in Technological Magic Studies. He was sitting with Natsu, Jellal, and Gajeel. You were sitting next to Lucy, Levy, and Juvia.

Mr. Warrod had set up his presentation and began class. He would sometimes talk to his friends, sometimes getting into playful fights with Natsu. It was normal to you. You never thought anything of it in the beginning. Sooner than later, the next semester rounded the corner and you were stuck in Dragon Studies, which Natsu, Wendy, and Gajeel were the only ones you knew there.

Though, the next year came and you were back in Technology with Warrod. It seemed like everything was going perfect. You both began talking to each other more often. You were flirting with him every so often, but he was more than just oblivious. He just didn't care. All of your friends encouraged you to tell him you liked him. So you did. The friendship didn't falter and he acted as if nothing had happened. It was like he forgot the entire ordeal.

Life carried on and P.E was now the only class you had with him. So, you increased your own strength. You excelled in running like him. You had lost weight, for him. To be with him. Days had passed and 8th Grade Formal rounded the corner; you were talking to him less often now. You love began fading slowly. Though, the little charcoal still flickered in your heart.

Now, as it was only a week before, you had gained the worst of news. Juvia, who you were close to, had cheerfully told you that Gray had asked her to formal. Life seemed to slow down. Your world came crashing down and you couldn't bare much. Experiencing pain like that hurt. The love had vanished and you were empty. You gave up on and type of relationships for that time and focused on your personality.

You had become very outspoken and protective over your friends. You were sweet, caring, happy. Then the year ended and school was out. Next year you'd be in highschool. A freshman. You hadn't spoken to him in a two months, one month left in summer. And in night you got a text. A text reading:

Hey. Sorry I didn't talk to you for a while. I was with family in Canada and left my phone at home.

At first it didn't seem like much, but it was still something. So you answered it reluctantly. Asking what he was doing and how he was. He then responded with something that shocked you.

Can I tell you something really bad?

Your heart jumped to your throat and you answered with a quick yes. He replied.

Juvia and I broke up. I thought of her more in a sisterly way and confused it with love.

You sat there, pissed off. You didn't answer. The new freshman year rolled around and you were throwing yourself into your studies, you joined clubs, made new friends, and became an outgoing person. At some point, you had made a new friend who was way too sweet. A boy at that. You weren't used to male contact.

Though, days passed and it lessened, he got a girlfriend and things were working itself out. You were okay and you weren't thinking as much about him. Then, the day of 9/11 came and a football game was hosted. You were supposed to go, considering you were in the Freshman Leader in the Football Spirit Club. Things went down with your other guy friend and he lost his girlfriend. Said girlfriend and you were really close friends. You were extremely close. So she told you that she felt that he was more of a friend and you had said the same thing. So you politely let him know and he threw himself into his boxing.
