-I Love You-

~Natsu x Reader~

(Y/N)

If you could go back to one moment, one moment at all, it would be when you first started falling in love. When you realized that everything, your friendship, your views, everything was changing. Your breath would leave you when he entered the room, your heart would beg for you to stop hurting it, and your brain would scream for you to stop being so stupid. His touch wasn't needed, nor was his affection, but his presence was more than enough.

You both had realized your feelings for one another when winter rolled around, when the world was deciding to fight each other. When he had been hurt and you took up his place, fighting for him, fighting to lessen the groups. You wanted to clear a path for him, when he was ready, you wanted him to have a clear shot. He woke asking for you, it has always been you. He was worried for you, he fought for the purpose to keep you alive and ready to come back to a home that was peaceful.

The moment Lucy told him you were battling for Fairy Tail, and helping Sabertooth, he couldn't have felt more proud. Yes, he was worried, but his pride in you trumped everything else. He knew you could handle yourself. He knew a Mage like you could handle even Zeref if you tried hard enough. So yes, he was no where near as protective as you thought he would be. Sure, every atom in his body was screaming at him to run to you, to help you, but he was also a warrior, a comrade, and comrades fight together, whether they're far away or by their side.

You could feel when he woke up, almost like the goddesses gave you a little red string of faith connected by your pinkies. You could almost feel the tug. And so could he. When he stood, after beating the weird "respectful ninja" dude, he felt a small tingle of pain shoot through him. He could hear terrified screams, screams of mages fleeing. But the only sound he could focus on was your voice screaming from pain. Worry flooded through him, but he couldn't leave to check if you were okay. No matter how much he wanted to, he had a job to do. And you would push through, wouldn't you? You were strong, you had to be, no doubt about it. But as much as he told himself you were okay, the sounds of your screams got louder and louder until it was cut off. That's when, for the first time, he felt fear course through his very being. He was scared. Not intimidated like his past battles. Intimidation he would always push through, but the true fear of losing the last person he held truly dear to him pushed him to find you.

"N-Natsu. . . You should take a look at this. . ." Lucy's voice trembled as she spoke. He moved towards the picture she was staring at. When he saw it, he felt like dropping to his knees, and he did. It was a photo of you. You were crucified on a cross. Nails put through your hands to hold you up, and feet overtop of each other, another nail holding it in place. Other people were in the picture, but you were the bloodiest. Your shirt torn, the only thing hiding your breasts from everyone else's view was his vest. You must've taken one as a good luck charm, which warmed his heart before fear filled him again.

What if you were dead on that cross? What if they violated you? No doubt he would still love you, but he would kill the bastards who did it. Your pants were ripped to shreds, stopping just before your upper thigh. Cuts oozed blood and a knife held one of your thighs in place. You struggled, he knew that much. You put up a fight, which meant that they caught you off guard.

Sabertooth had been hit by something strong and you had been caught in the middle of it. Natsu restrained the urge to break down. Naturally he would never do it in public, but you were his rock. You were there when you and Natsu were still kids, you were glued to his side, whether you were quiet or loud, he always enjoyed you being there. But here and now, with you no longer by his side, with you hanging on a cross, he almost broke down.
