"Jennifer Joanna Iero, don't talk to your father like that!" Gerard admonished his daughter, putting his hands on his hips. "Why? Isn't this what we're supposed to be doing? Talking about our problems? It's been 4 damn years, so why don't we start talking! I have been so lost and neither of you seem to notice or-or care. I've been losing my mind, and you don't see it." Gerard gave J.J a sympathetic look, moving closer to give her a hug. "J.J, we care about you so much, we love you baby." Jennifer rolled her eyes, stepping back from both of her parents. "Ever since Reign died, everything has been taken away from me. I've lost my rights to do what I want. Why do we have a curfew? Because of Reign. Why can't we have a proper school dance? Because of Reign. It's bullshit, and it's all your fault." Slap! J.J gasped, she could feel her eyes stinging so she gathered up her bag, pursing her lips. "Well let's go get that guy who blackened my eye, cause we don't hit girls in Jersey do we daddy?" She turned around and headed straight for the door. "J.J. Baby, he didn't mean it. Come here." Frank ran out after his daughter, trying to get her to come back into the house. "No, I'm going to Uncle Mikey's tonight. I'll be back on Monday." J.J started walking to the left, wanting to get away from her father.
The 18 year old pulled her phone out of her pocket, unlocking it swiftly and pulling up her contact list. She scrolled until she found Mikey's name, selecting the contact and hitting the call icon. Mikey picked up on the first ring, which was convenient for J.J. "Jenny, what's wrong?" J.J could hear the concern in her uncle's voice, she could barely stop herself from sobbing. "He hit me, Dad he-he hit me." J.J sobbed out covering her mouth, so she didn't cry too loudly. "Where are you?" Mikey was pissed, he couldn't believe his brother of all people would hit his own daughter. "I'm on my way to yours. I-it's okay if I come right?" J.J frequently wiped at her eyes, thankfully she wasn't wearing makeup.
"Of course Jenny, you know you always can." Mikey was very sympathetic, talking to his niece until she was only a few houses down. J.J walked up the stairs to Mikey's apartment, twisting the doorknob until it finally opened. "Uncle Mikey," J.J sobbed out once again, closing the door behind her and falling immediately into her uncle's arms. "I can't believe your dad would do that. Why did he?" Mikey placed a hand on J.J's cheek, stroking the mark Gerard left. "He must have did it because I was talking about Reign. I didn't wanna make him upset, I just wanted to talk." Mikey held his niece close, understanding (but still very angry) of his brother's actions. The subject of J.J's older brother was very touchy in the Iero household.
"J.J you gotta understand that what your dad did was an accident. He didn't mean it, you know that Reign is still a touchy subject for your dad and papa. I know it's been 4 years since the accident, but they lost one of their kids. It hurts for them, think of how'd they be if they lost you also." Mikey sat J.J down in one of the chairs at the small table, walking into the kitchen to get his niece something to drink and eat. "Mikey, I-I can't go back. I told papa that I wasn't gonna be back until Monday." Jenny pulled her legs up, setting her feet on the chair, hugging her knees.
"J.J." Mikey sighed, bringing over a box of Cheez-Itz and a can of Coke for the petite brunette. "I'm gonna call your dad. Let him know you're alright." Mikey left to go talk to Gerard, leaving his niece to sit at the table and feel guilty for leaving. J.J pulled out her phone, seeing as she had 6 missed calls from both her dad and papa, and a couple text messages from both her parents and her best friend Nikki. She swiped back, pressing the reply icon to one of Nikki's messages.
