Dos and Don’ts

Your First Day of School

It’s your first day of school. What should you do and what shouldn’t you do?  Here’s the first thing you should do: Read this list of do’s and don’ts. These are sure to help you whether it’s your first day at a new school or first day of the term.

DO #1: Be Yourself.

This is the most important thing to do on your first day. Be the person you are, not some fake ass you created so that you can fit in. It’s exhausting! Trust me.

DO #2: Relax.

Remember that you are only going to school, not performing in front of five million people. Try not to freak out too much on your first day, leave the freak-outs until later in the year. The more you look and act nervous, the harder it will be. Just put on a relaxed appearance and step into your new school as if you always belonged there.

DO #3: Smile.

A smile can cover the nerves you are feeling on your first day. Plus it shows people that you are friendly and approachable. Even though my family thinks it weird, I usually smile at complete strangers who seem to be having a really bad day and usually they smile back. Smiling can also bring up the dreary mood that usually hangs around on the first day.

DO #4: Get a study plan and STICK TO IT.

Trust me when I say this, you should get a study plan especially if you are just starting high school. I’m on my second to last year of high school and I regret starting my study plan so late. When you have made a study schedule/plan, stick to it. If you get a routine going with your study, it makes school a whole lot more easier since you are on the ball when it comes to your work.

DO #5: Have Fun!

School is about the easiest part of your life, so have fun with it. But not too much… we all know where that would lead. Lol. I’m joking. But seriously, it’s the only way you can get the best results. If you find school fun, then that’s a bonus. It’s proven that people you enjoy of what they do are more likely to succeed in that task.

DON’T #1: Be friends with people who don’t like YOU

Be friends with people who like the person you are, not some idea. If they constant put you down for not being like them, then it’s likely that they are going to continue like this until you change into them. It’s too much work! Even if they are the “It” group, don’t waste your time with them if they don’t like YOU!

DON’T #2: Get too stressed.

Getting too stressed over school will not do you any favors. You are more likely to get a cold and other sickness if you are overly stressed. Try to keep calm and study hard when it comes to exams and tests.

DON’T #3: Slack Off!

How well you do at school can change the future you have. No pressure or anything. It’s true though. If you don’t study and keep up with your work, then the likelihood of you getting into the university or the course you want are slim. Unless you are a natural genius, that is.

DON’T #4: Do stupid things that you know you will regret.

These are the normal things like drugs and sleep around ya di da di da. We’ve all heard them. The thing is we don’t listen to adults… it’s like a universal teenage rule. But there are some things that adults say that we should take on board. Drugs can mess up your life, unless they are prescription drugs that you need which your doctor gave you.

DON’T #5: Cause too much drama

Think about Chloe from Bratz. Drama Mama. By causing a lot of drama (Relationship and other), you could make your high school time a horrible and stressful time instead of a time of memories and fun. If you cause less and solve more dramas, the better your time will be.

So there you have it :) Five do’s and five don’ts of your first day of school. I hope you enjoyed them and will use them. If you have any problems or feedback, send it to nisha_n@y7mail.com or PM DaMusicFreakxX or PiiXieDustMagazine.
