Spinning around again

Chapter 19

Kate sat on my bed flicking thought a magazine humming along to a song. As i sat at my dressing table picking make up for tonight.
"Why do I have the feeling that your not dressing up for Jack?" She asked quietly so that Jack didn't hear her as he was in the bathroom.
"I'm dressing up for Jack. I just haven't seen Gavin in a long time and I want him to know I'm presentable and such." I replied picking up the rosy red lipstick
"Is this to much?" I asked Kate
She ignored my question and said
"You know you can love a person and like a person at same time."
"I don't like Gavin, Kate he was Austin a very good friend and I'm excited to see him alright." I replied putting on the lipstick and brushed on some finishing power.
"Yep totally." Kate replied her voice plain
She didn't believe me.
"Blame Kate can't I just want to look nice for once in my life?!" I snapped angrily grabbed my dress from the back of the chair and stormed off. But I stopped outside the door when I heard Jack come out of the loo and have a whispering conversation with Kate.
"Did you guys have a fight or something?" Kate asked
"No I didn't think so," Jack replied "She told me it was just baby things."
I could just imagine Kate shaking her head
"No. Something is up and she might not even know it."
I didn't listen anymore instead I went into the spare room and got changed. It was a cute dress that I'd brought a while go. It was a burgeoned colour with a black collar, it went over my bump nicely showing it off completely. Then I pulled on my knee high navy blue.
"Mummy is going to see a good friend today." I whispered to my bump
"He's going to make laugh and smile and I've heard that's good for you. You like it when mummy laughs don't you?"
"Elsa?" Jacks voice interrupted my little talk to baby
I peeled open the door and looked out at him.
"I heard you had a fight with Kate." He said
"It wasn't a fight." I replied
"That's not what Kate thinks." He argued
I rolled my eyes at him
"What are you my father?! Jesus Jack." I snapped
I came out of the spare room and went to go downstairs. I wanted Jack to reach out and grab me,kiss me of hug me or even just stroke my face. But he stood as still as a statue and didn't move. So I went downstairs and started dinner trying not to cry.

At 7 o clock the door bell rang loudly around the house and I couldn't help but feel exited. Kate and Jack stood awkwardly by the door as I yanked it opened and grinned madly when I saw Gavin standing there with a bunch of flowers and wine.
"Gavin!" I squealed grabbing hold of him and hugging him
"Hey you." He said and hugged me tightly with his right arm
"Come in come in!" I said pulling him inside and shutting the door with a bang.
Kate smiled and hugged Gavin and then Jack and Gavin did that little man thing with the eyes but shook hands anyway. Then all of Gavin's attention was back on me as I lead him into the kitchen where where going to eat dinner. Everything was all steaming and ready to go. I took the flowers off Gavin and slipped them into a pot and placed them in the middle of the table.
"I can't believe you still remember my favourite flowers," I said laughing as I tried reaching for the wine glass at the top of the self. A long arm reached up and got them for me and I thought it was Jack
"Thanks Jack." I said but when I looked up I realised my mistake
Jack was stood arms crossed by the corner of the room glaring. It was Gavin who'd helped me
"Sorry," I mumbled almost embarrassed at Jack "Thanks Gavin!" I said changing my mistake
"Perfectly all right my sweet." Gavin said
We all sat down for dinner and Kate and Jack bearly said a word. Strange.
"That dress looks amazing on you." Gavin said taking a big mouthful of dinner
"Oh thank you. I got it I while back and haven't worn it but I think I'll wear it more often now."
Gavin smiled and nodded.
"Almost 6 years later Els and you've only got better." He said complimenting me once again.
I realised it wasn't something Jack did often. Come to think of it when did he ever compliment me or say he loves me?
"Well I have been trying." I said giggling "Oh better pop to the lady's room excuse me a second." I mumbled standing up
"Your excused dear." Gavin replied
I giggled again and went to the loo. When I came back I expected a little talk going on even just small talk but it was like no one had said a word since I'd been gone.
"Took your time." Gavin joked
"Don't start on me buster." I replied jokingly "I'm remember having to drag you out the loo,"
"True,true,dinner was lovely as it always was. I'll help you with the dishes."
"Thank you." I said and I meant it
One more glance at Jack who still hadn't done anything. Gavin got Kate's plate and I got jacks.
"Not hungry?" I asked softly
"No," Jack replied
"Oh ok." I muttered picking up the plate and walked over to the sink.
After we'd all tidied up we went into the living room for some coffee.
"How about we put on some music on?" I asked walking over to the dock
"Oh wait wait! I got a song!" Gavin called running over and started typing it in.
I perched on the arm of the sofa and waited for the song to play.

"Little do you know how I'm breaking while you fall asleep."
"Little do you know I'm still hunted by the memories."

"Our song?" I said giggling and sung along

"Little do you know I'm trying to pick myself up piece by piece."
"Little do you know I need a little more time."
""Underneath it all I'm held captive by the hole inside."
"I've been holding back for the feel that you might change your mind."
"I'm ready to forgive you,but fogey ting is a harder fight."
"Little do you know I need more time."

Gavin started singing too

"Away,away."
"I love you like you've never felt pain, away."
"I promise you don't have to be afraid."
"Away."
"The love is here and here to stay,so lay your head on me."
"Little do you know I know you're hurting while I'm sound asleep"
"Little do you know know all my mistakes are slowly drowning me."
"Little do you know I'm trying to make it better piece by piece."
"Little do you know I ...."

Then Kate started coughing violently.
"Oh Kate." I said running over as she started going red from coughing.
"Someone get her some water!" I called rubbing her back.

Gavin left about 9pm promising he'd call me. Kate disappeared into bed saying she had a headache and Jack didn't talk to me for the whole night. After his shower he just climbed into bed and went to sleep. About midnight I got up and went down stairs. I couldn't sleep. I went into the living room and pulled a blanket around my cold body and sat down on the sofa and switched on the telly. Rubbing my belly gently and soon I fell into a horrible sleep, with nightmares and cold and hot chills.
