Spinning around again

Chapter 26

"Push!" The doctor order loudly over my cries of pain
I was panting and my face bright red, tears streaming down my face. Jack stood by my side squishing me hand tightly but not enough for me to even notice I was to into giving birth to care. I could hear Jack whispering something over and over again as he watched scared yet excited.
"One more Push sweetie!" Someone else said
Bad words ran thought my head in a quick motion but my body pushed anyway. With a strangled cry the pain suddenly disappeared when i saw my baby girl in the doctors hands. So small. So precious. And all ours. Jack leaned down and kissed my forehead letting his lips longer for a second.
"She's a happy health baby girl." The doctor announced cheerfully as they wrapped her up ever so gently in a blanket and handed her over to me. I started down at the bright white eyes staring up at me and a massive surge of love ran thought me. I hugged the child closed to my chest ,cradling her head. I held her ever so careful watching her breath softly in and out. The doctors and midwifes checked me over before leaving us for a while to be with our baby. I didn't register any off this, I was in shock.
"She's beautiful." Jack whispered
"Her eyes are opal." I replied staring at them in awe
Jack let out a shaky laugh and ever so gently took her out of my arms and I to his.
"That's what we'll name her, Opal." He said softly
I nodded tiredly, my whole body felt sore and drained but I didn't want to sleep not yet.
"Opal." I whispered

4 hours later

Jack had just gone out into the waiting room to get Anna,Kate,my mum, R (Jacks sister) and his father. They all bundled in happily as I stood by the window feeling slightly better holding Opal. She'd had a fed,cried, was weighed and checked over again. Now I'd dressed her in a little baby clothes with the midwife who helped me.
"Oh look at her!" Kate said in a hushed whisper
"She looks like you!" Anna said as they crowed round me
I couldn't help but feel so proud.
"My Baby." My mum whispered tears in her eyes "May I hold her?"
I mused this unsure of what to say. Only me and Jack had held her.
"Don't worry darling I did look after you and your sister." Mum said soothing and pulled Opal out of my arms
They felt empty and cold.
"So what have you named her?" Jacks father asked as he played around with Opals tiny hand
"Opal." Jack said, he came over to me and hugged me around the waist rocking me slightly
I leaned my head on his chest and smiled happily.
"Well I have to admit Bro you did a good job." R said softly
It was then pass the baby which made me very anxious but no one dropped her or hurt her in anyway so after a while I calmed down. Anna and Kate cooed a lot holding each other's hand and my mum held Opal most of the time.
"Your mother would have been so proud." Jacks father said tears in his eyes.
"Yeah." R said as it was finally time she got to hold Opal.
After about 5 minutes I got tried of not holding me baby and she was starting to look sleepy anyway so I took her back from R. Then my mum left for a bit coming back with bags and bags of things. I laughed gently as Opal had just fallen asleep and watched her open the bags and showing us everything she'd been buying for her granddaughter. It was laughable actually the amount of things she'd gone out and brought but I was glad she did and didn't just stop talking to me because I had a child. Visitors hour ended forcing everyone but Jack out. But lucky I was told by my midwife who said that because the baby and me where very health and I seemed to recover quite quickly that we could go home once they'd checked my blood levels again. Jack put Opal down into the car seat and wrapped the pink fluffy blanket that my mum had left over her as she slept. Then I was able to leave. Jack carried Opal out to the car and we went home. I was so afraid that on the drive home something might happen to her but nothing did. At home it appeared that everyone had come round ours and Anna was cooking some dinner. A nice surprise. R even brought her child over Kelly. I had my first coffee for nine months and called Tammy to tell her everything was ok. In which she replied she was coming over brining her 2 month old baby boy who she called Damon over with her. So we ended up having a big dinner together. Cooing over the baby's.

Once everyone but Kate left I took Opal upstairs slowly, Jack following closely behind me. I took her into her room for the first time and laid her sleeping body into the crib. Then lifting her blanket over her I stood watching h sleep for a while. I'd never felt so happy in my whole life. This was it. My baby. Our baby. Eventually Jack managed to pull me away to have a shower and then go to sleep because I was so tried. We had the baby monitor in our bedroom and we decided that if Opal does wake up and she will that I'd go the first time and he'd go the next.
