Lana's POV:
Jen and I stay with her mom and siblings for a week, and let me just say its been a long and crazy
week. There isn't very much to do around here so we've been helping plan for the funeral and working om arrangememts to adopt Sara. Let me fill you in, The day after we got engaged, we all went to the hospital again to pick up his last few things in the hospital room he was in. Jen burst into tears upon entering the room as the last moments of her father returned. I walked up behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder before she turned and cried into my shoulder. I held her for a few minutes, but it just got worse. "Come on baby, why don't you go to the bathroom and calm down." I say to her, and she walks off to the bathroom. I stay behind, wanting to give Jen some time to her self and I help her mom and siblings gather the few things that are left.

Jen's POV:
I open the door to the bathroom and walk in sobbing. I make my way over to the sink, turn on the faucet and splash water in my face, and that's when I hear faint cries coming from one of the stalls. I walk over and knock on the stall door. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask concerned. The door opens, and I see a tear stained teenager who looked to be about 15 or 16. "Jennifer Morrison?" She asked in surprise, obviously recognizing me. "Hi." I say and she smiles at me, before she wraps her arms around my waist. I'm shocked for a moment, but I slowly wrap my arms around her. Its kind of an odd moment for me, of course I've met fans an stuff, but never in this way before... In the bathroom. Finally the girl pulls away and looks up at me. "What are you doing here?" She asks. I look down at the ground, and contemplate whether or not I should tell her, but then decide I should, it might make her feel better. "My father had a heart attack last week, and he passed away yesterday. We are just here to pick up a few things." I say sadly. "Oh I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked." She says and a tear trickles down her face. "I just lost my mom... Or adoptive mother anyways." She says sadly, and I hug her again, her head on my chest. "I'm sorry sweetie." I say, trying to comfort her. Then I notice the bruises on her arms and neck. "And what about your dad?" I ask. She pulls away and shrugs. "Don't see him much and when I do, he's always drunk." She says as tears begin to fall on her face more heavily now. "And did he give you those?" I asked, and she bit her lip and nodded before looking up at me. "Here, why don't you come with me." I say and wrap my arm around her shoulders. We walk out of the bathroom and find Lana. "Oh my god, Lana's here too!?" She asks looking up at me. I look down at her and smile "yeah. She's with me every step of the way." And I look up at Lana who sees me coming but is shocked to see me with this girl. Lana walks over to us and smiles. "I found a fan in the bathroom." I tell her, and the girl smiles at Lana, before Lana returns the smile. "I'm Sara." She says, trying to smile. "She just lost her adoptive mother." I whisper to Lana and she nods her head in understanding. She hugs Sara and looks up at me with a sad look on her face. "How old are you" Lana asks. "16" Sara answers as they pull apart from each other and Sara continues to speak. "You guys have no idea how much meeting you guys means to me. You guys have literally been my light when everything else is dark." Lana and I give each other a sad smile, before we both wait for Sara to continue. "You have saved me from suicide so many times and I don't know how I could ever repay you." She says with a smile on her face. Lana and I hug her as my heart rips for this poor girl. She reminds me so much of my character Emma, and it pulls me to do something about her situation. "Do you want to get away from your father?" I ask and she looks at me shocked but nods. "Okay. I'll call CPS and see what we can do." I say and Lana looks at me shocked. We lead her over to a bench by my dads hospital room and Lana and I go in to help cfinish packing up. "Jen, are you sure about this?" She asks and I nod immediately. "She reminds me of Emma. I do t know her very well, but I'm pretty sure she's been in and out of foster homes all her life, and if we don't do something, she might end up there again for the next two years of her life before they kick her out." I say. "Okay." She says, and I go outside the room so my mom, brother and sister don't hear what's going on. "Hi I would like to report a child abuse." I say into my phone. "She's 16 and has been abused by her adoptive father... Okay we are at the hospital now, any chance you could meet us here?... Okay thank you see you in a few minutes...bye." I say and hang up. I walk over to Sara who had been watching me talk on the phone the whole time. Lana comes out of the room and we sit on either side of Sara. "I just called CPS." I say. "No! I can't go back into the foster system! No one is going to take me!" She says beginning to sob. I rub her back soothingly and look up at Lana. She gives me a warm smile, telling me that this was the right thing to do. "Sara, we aren't going to let that happen. Lana and I want to adopt you." I say happily, and she stops crying and looks up at me, the tears on her face beginning to dry and a smile beginning to grow. "Really?" She asks. "Yes." Lana says with a smile, and Sara hugs the both of us happily.

Lana's POV:
I'm shocked by Jen's actions, but she's right, we can't let her go back into the foster system so I agree with her on the decision to adopt Sara. Its actually kind of funny how she kind of looks like both of us. She has Jen's face and eyes an my skin color, her hair is brown and very long and her eyes a sparkly blue/green color. We sit and wait for the social worker to show up, and when she does, we all stand and shake her hand. "Hi my name is Chloe, I will be helping you guys today." She says with a smile. "So Sara, I understand that you have been in and out of foster homes and were adopted three years ago?" Chloe asks. Sara nods looking up at Chloe. "Okay, and to my understanding, you father has been abusing you?" Chloe continues with the questions. Sara bites her lower lip, trying to hold back the tears as she nods. "Okay sweet heart, we are going to do everything we can to help you stay out of the foster system." Chloe says and we all smile. "Is there a place where the three of us could talk?" Chloe asks, looking at Jen and I. We nod. "Stay here, we will be back in a bit." Jen says to Sara, who sits back down on the bench as we walk away. "Okay, there are a few things we need to ask, and I guess this isn't exactly the place for it. Could you come by the office tomorrow morning?" Chloe asks. "Yes of course." I answer immediately. "Okay, and does Sara have a place she could stay for the night?" And Jen nods. "Okay, let me go find her father, you can take Sara when your ready." She says with a smile before hurrying off to find Sara's dad.

I'm really surprised at the sudden change of events, but I'm glad to welcome Sara into my life, and Jen obviously is too. We haven't been engaged for more than 24 hours, and here we are, get.ting ready to adopt already. I laugh as we walk back to Sara, and Jen gives me a funny look. "I can't believe we've been engaged for only 16 hours and we are already adopting." I say and she laughs too as she slips her hand in mine. This was definently turning out to be one extremely interesting trip, I thought as we continued to walk back to where our potentially future daughter waited for us.
