Something More || A Morrilla Story

Part 27

Lana's POV:
I can't believe what I just heard from the officer, my loyal best friend, who is so innocent and would never hurt anyone, is gone, ripped away from me and destroyed. I'm so upset I can't even answer the officers question about if anyone was coming by the house tonight. Luckily Jen answered for me. Once the officers went back inside while Jen called Sara, I broke down even more. Once Jen hung up the phone after talking to Sara, she looks at me sadly before she wraps her arms around my shoulders and brings me close. I cry into her chest, not knowing what else to say or do as she strokes my hair. She holds me tight and doesn't say anything, she just let's me cry until I can't cry anymore. When I stop crying I still have my head laying against her chest and when she finally realizes I'm no longer crying, she grabs me by the arms and pushes me up off of her. She looks into my eyes, and lifts up my chin with her hand so im looking into her eyes which are red from crying too. She wipes away my tears with her other hand before she finally begins to speak. "Lana, I'm so sorry." She says, not really knowing what else to say. "Everything will be okay, they will find who ever did this to Lola." She said reassuringly. I wipe away the rest of my tears and look down at Ava who is now at Jen's feet, but she doesn't look as happy as she usually does. "I think she misses her best friend too." Jen said picking Ava up and setting her on her lap. I stroke Ava's tangled fur a few times, not saying anything. "So where are we going to stay tonight?" I asked Jen who sighed at the question. "I don't know. There aren't very many dog friendly hotels around here." She says looking at Ava. "What about Ginny and Josh?" I ask. "We couldn't possibly do that, its already so late and they have already done so much for us." She says, but I ignore her. I take out my phone and call Ginny. I put the conversation on speaker so Jen can hear everything too. "LANA!" Ginny said excitedly. "Hey Ginny." Lana says sadly. "Lana what's wrong? Is everything okay with Jen?" She asks. Jen laughs. "Yes Ginny, everything is okay with Lana and I." Jen answers. "Then what's wrong Lana? You don't sound too good." Ginny said concerned. "Do you mind if we stop by and chat?" I say again in the same sad tone. "Yes of course! Stop by whenever, I'll be here." She said. "Great thank you Ginny." I say before hanging up.

Jen's POV:
We are half way yo Ginny and Josh's when my phone pings and I look at the screen. "I'll be staying at Meghan's tonight if that's okay." I read the text from Sara. "That's fine. Have fun." I say and lock my phone again and stare out the window wondering who on earth could ever hurt Lola. We finally get to their house, and Lana and I get out of the car, I carry Ava and walk to the front door. Lana rings the door bell and after a few minutes, Josh answers it. "Hey ladies, come on in." Josh said opening the door for us. I walk in first an Lana follows. "Ginny will be out in a second, she's just finishing putting Zach to bed. In the mean time, have a seat." Josh said with a smile as he directed us to a couch. I set Ava on the ground and sit down on the couch, Lana sits next to me and rests her head on my shoulder. I wrap my arm around her and begin to rub her arm with my hand.

After a few minutes Ginny comes downstairs and smiles at us, but then frowns when see sees Lana. "What's wrong?" She asked concerned and looking back and forth between Lana and I. I take a deep breath, before I begin to explain. "There was a break in at our house... Who ever it was killed Lola." I say and a tear trickles down my cheek. "Oh my god Lana!" Ginny cries and crouches down next to Lana who is not crying. Ginny hugs her and apologizes again. "I know this is last minute, but is there any chance you guys would be able to let us stay here just for the night? It would just be Lana, Ava and I Sara is at Meghan's." I ask. "Yes of course you guys could stay the night! The guest room is already set up." She says before standing up straight. "Why don't I show you and let your work have some time." She says. I nod and stand up. I pick up Ava with one hand and carry her under my arm before extending my other hand out to Lana to help her up. Ginny leads us to the guest room and Lana and I go inside. "Thank you, we really appreciate it." I say with a smile. "No problem! Anything for my two favorite girls." She responds before leaving us alone. I walk over to the bed where Lana is laying and looking up at the ceiling. I crawl into the bed and curl up next to her. I grab her hand and lace our fingers together. We lay like that for about 15 minutes before my phone rings. I sit up and answer it. "Hello?" I ask and the other person on the other line responds. "Hi, this is officer banks. We found some of the intruders blood on a piece of glass. We ran some tests and got the results." He says. I look at Lana hopefully and she gives me a strange look. "Who is it?" I ask. "Its actually two people." He says before continuing. "They go by the names of Fred DiBlasio and Olivia Wilde. Do you know of them?" My eyes go wide and my jaw drops. "Y-yes." I stutter. "They were our exes."
