Broken Descent (Bruno Mars)

At Ease

On a hot spring day, the whole family took a trip to the San Diego Zoo. Bruno and Charlotte joined Phil's family in their car for the drive up.

"Who's excited?!" Bruno yelled from the second row of the SUV. Charlotte sat beside him and Zadeh sat in the third row.

Zadeh screamed and Charlotte giggled, kicking and swinging her legs.

"Hey!" Phil yelled a bit. "Hey Bruno we really don't need another kid back there."

When they got there, the girls took everything out of the trunks, including lunches for the day.

Bruno squatted in front of Charlotte with a bottle of sunscreen in his hand. The hot sun beat down through his shirt. He started rubbing it on her shoulders. When he got to her cheeks, she started making faces, pulling away a little. Bruno laughed a little.

"I know... I know. I'm sorry. I don't want that beautiful little face to get burned," Bruno said, lightly flicking her nose down with his finger.

Charlotte scrunched up her face and giggled again.

"Charlotte you need to stay close to Daddy, okay? We're all going together to see all the animals. It's very, very important. Understand?" Bruno said firmly.

Charlotte nodded and grabbed his hand as they followed the rest of the crew to see the first set of animals.

"Woah!" Charlotte exclaimed when they were within sight of the giraffes.

"Look how tall that guy is," Bruno gasped and pointed up to one of them.

Zadeh stuck his hand through the fence as a baby giraffe licked his fingers.

"Careful Zadeh," Urbana warned.

Charlotte ran up next to Zadeh, wanting some of the giraffe's attention too. He started to walk away from her.

"Come back," she said, still looking up at him in awe.

Bruno came behind her and snapped in the giraffe's face. "Hey...buddy come back here!"

The giraffe came back a little and looked Bruno in the face.

"That's right!"

Phil was laughing from behind. "Bruno don't taunt the animals."

The giraffe started making faces. Before Bruno could move, the giraffe sneezed right in his face.

"Ahhh!" Bruno groaned, covering his face. Charlotte was the first person to laugh; she was cracking up.

"Serves you right," Phil laughed.

Bruno washed up his face in the bathroom. Liam insisted they go to the petting zoo next. Charlotte stood with a handful of animal food, waiting for Bruno to come back.

"C'mon peanut," Bruno said, grabbing her free hand.

Bruno took her to see many of the animals. He pet them as Charlotte fed them.

"Ah chuuu!" Charlotte pretended to sneeze, laughing immediately.

"Are you making fun of me?" Bruno laughed, ticking her underneath her arm.

She just kept laughing.

"Huh?" He smiled, now tickling her under both arms.

Eric heard it from not too far away and laughed to himself. He and Liam went back to get more feed.

"Daddy I wanna....wanna see the monkeys," she whined, pointing to the cages nearby.

"Okay, we will after this."
