Broken Descent (Bruno Mars)

Nothing to Worry About

Bruno and Kim, holding hands, walked along the beach and across a dock looking out to the ocean, their first night in Fiji. The coast was lined with palm trees and beautiful white sand.

"Long flight," Bruno said, "but damn this is gorgeous."

"It is," Kim said.

"Just like you," Bruno grinned, pulling her in closer.

"Are you worried about having another one?" Kim asked, putting her hand over her stomach.

"Worried?" Bruno asked. "Hell no. I'm so, so excited, and more than anything, I'm excited about doing it with you. Why do you think I'm worried? Are you worried?"

"No...it's just you've been working so much lately...and I mean...we just got married. Is the timing right?"

"Well we don't have much of a choice do we?"

Kim looked out, still appearing unsure. She let out a long sigh.

"Kim," Bruno said. "When I adopted Charlotte, the timing wasn't right...it wasn't right at all. I mean, my career was just beginning to lift off...and I was doin' it by myself on the road and as I was recording my own music. Timing isn't a factor, here. I can make arrangements at the studio and with the business to make this work. That's not a problem. Everything revolves around our family in my eyes."

Kim gave a slight, hesitating smile. Bruno turned to her, embracing her tight, rocking them back and forth. Pulling away, he grabbed her hands.

"When we get home, we're going to get to tell everyone about the new baby...and I can't wait for that..."

"How do you think Charlotte's going to react?"

"If this happened when she was younger I'd be a little nervous, but I think she'll be alright."

"Even though she ran away before we got married?"

Bruno sighed, looking out onto the water.

"I just have to keep the balance, make sure I'm home when she gets home and make sure that I give her enough time."

"And of course I'll be there too," Kim said laughing a little, leaning in closer to him, "We're doing this together. I'll make sure you're spending enough time with her."

Bruno and Kim came back home with bags of gifts for the girls. That night, Bruno and Kim started dinner together. Silent the whole time, they gave looks to each other throughout cooking. The four of them ate outside, since the sun was still shining. The girls looked at the pictures of Fiji at the dinner table on Bruno's phone. Bruno and Kim nodded at each other once more, before Bruno spoke.

"Charlotte," Bruno said, looking to Charlotte, and then to Madison. "Madison. Can you girls put the phone down for a second?"

Bruno held Kim's hand, visibly on top of the table. Bruno looked at Kim for a brief second, took a sigh, and began to speak.

"We have some big news."

Charlotte and Madison's eyes widened as they set down the phone. They looked a bit nervous.

"It's nothing bad...you girls...well...um" Bruno said, tripping over words. "You girls are going to be big sisters."

A wave of gasps was let out by both of them followed by sudden screaming. Bruno and Kim looked at each other, shrugging and smiling as the girls got off their seats and jumped up and down.

"Sooooo," Bruno said, beginning to smirk. "You girls are excited about this?"

"Yes!" Madison yelled as Charlotte nodded.
