Revelations

Bruno and Kim got home at the same time. Bruno had been at a meeting that he couldn't miss that afternoon. He'd just picked up Charlotte and Madison from school. He'd been following through, making sure that the transition with the new baby would be as smooth as possible. Madison went into her room, while Charlotte played outside in the yard with Geronimo. Bruno and Kim then went to their bedroom for a private reveal before the big one.

"Alright," Bruno sighed, sitting beside Kim on the bed and wrapping an arm around her. "Big moment...here we go..."

Kim slowly took the ultrasound from her purse. She smiled as Bruno examined it for a while with a confused expression.

"Have I been working too hard today? Or...I don't know what I'm looking at. I can't tell...boy or girl? Is that even a baby?"

Kim laughed. "Yes, Bruno. Think a little out of the box. What do you see?"

"Well that's definitely a head...but," Bruno said, pointing to another spot on the ultrasound. "This looks like a head too..."

Kim just smiled. "So..."

"Wait?" Bruno gasped. "There's two...shit...really?"

With his mouth wide open, Bruno stared at the ultrasound longer.

"I've got it, baby!" Bruno exclaimed, standing up, facing Kim. "Boys! We're havin' twin boys, aren't we?"

Kim nodded, putting her finger to her lips. "There ya go. Relax though...we still need to tell the girls, remember?"

Taking a deep breath and rubbing his hands together, Bruno composed himself a bit. "Right...okay...okay...I'll try to contain myself. Wow...this is nuts. I am such a MAN."

Kim cracked up, unable to keep her eyes off the ultrasound. Bruno took Kim's hand before speaking to the girls right before dinner in the living room. Kim held onto the ultrasound picture and began speaking.

"As you girls know, I went to the doctor today to find out if you'll have a baby brother or baby sister. Are you ready to hear what I found out?"

"Yes," Madison nodded eagerly. Charlotte remained silent, which immediately grabbed Bruno's attention. He almost spoke up, but it was too late.

Kim showed the ultrasound to the girls pointing to each of the twins.

"Here's a...boy," Kim said, pointing to one, before moving her finger again, "...and here's another one. Two babies...twin boys."

Madison gasped dramatically with her hands to her face, and Charlotte ran out of the room and down the hall.

"Go talk to her and I'll start dinner, okay? What should we have?" Kim whispered to Bruno.

Bruno thought for a second before answering "spaghetti." He followed Charlotte to her room, to her closed door. He didn't call for her; he just knocked at first, since there would be no secret as to who it was. Charlotte surprisingly opened the door without much prompting.

"I just need...some time," she said quietly, looking straight down at the floor. "I'll be okay...promise."

"It's okay that you're upset."

"No it's not," she sighed, allowing the door to open wider.

"Yes it is," Bruno said, following her into her room. He leaned against the desk close to her bed as she sat on top of her comforter.

"I should be," she sighed, "I should be excited that...we'll have babies in the house...and that I'm going to have two new brothers...and everyone else is so excited...except me..."
