I turned and was about to leave when i felt Sam reach out and grab my wrist.
"Wait," he said, his voice was soft.
I stop and turn back around to face him. Tears were running down his face and he was looking down at his hand around my wrist.
"Im so sorry, Lexi. I didnt want anyone to get hurt. Especially you. I thought that if i killed myself, it would make everybodys lives less stressful. But-"
I cut him off, midsentence, by wrapping him in a tight hug. He lays his head down on my shoulder and just cries.
"I forgive you Sami. But you have to start thinking about how your actions will affect other people. I am so happy that you're okay," i squeeze him in closer to me, not ever wanting to let go of him.
"Im really sorry Lex. I promise i wont ever do it again," he mumbles into my hair, choking back a sob.
I push away from him, so i can look at him. I hold his face in my hands and tell him, "Dont you ever try anything like that ever again, Sami Tucker. You hear me?"
He grins, "I promise, Lexi," I pull him in for another hug, "I dont want to hurt you again."
"I love you Sami," then i push him away again and press my lips to his.
"You do? You're not mad at me for yelling at you because you told Jackie?"
"I was mad. But that isnt important anymore. The fact that you're safe is all that i care about now."
I press my lips to his again.
"I really am sorry that i got mad at you for telling Jackie. I know you only wanted to help."
"I know you are. And just so you know, i probably would have gotten mad too."
He laughs and i wipe his tears away before going in for another kiss. His kisses are so freaking addicting.
A knock on the door pulls us away from eachother.
"Can i come in?" Jackie asks from the other side of the door.
"Yes," Sam hollers to her.
Jackie comes in and Jackson is right behind her. He looks really worried.
"Im surprised they didnt admit you to a mental hospital," she says as soon as she is at Sams side.
Sam rolls his eyes.
"You're an idiot, you know that, right?"
"So ive been told," Sam comments.
Jackie just watches Sam for a moment before speaking up again, "Im so glad that you didnt go through with it," then she brings Sam in for a hug.
"Yeah, i am too man," Jackson says, "And i really am sorry for saying what i did the other day in the parking lot."
"You should be. You were being a dick," Sam glares at his friend. Or ex- friend. What ever they are now.
"I know, i really shouldnt have said any of that. No matter how mad i was."
Sam raises one eyebrow, im guessing that hes waiting for more.
"What exactly did you guys' get in a fight over?" Jackie asks.
"Nothing," they both say. I immediantly can tell that something is up.
"Do you forgive me?" Jackson asks, clearly wanting to make up with his best friend.
"No," Sam says smuggly.
"What? Why not?" Jackson honestly looks surprised by Sams answer.
"Because you should never have even said that about her, even if you were mad."
"Yeah, but i apologized."
"Yeah, and you also punched me in the face for sticking up for her. So no, im not going to forgive you."
"Wow, Sami. I thought we were friends."
"So did i! Best friends dont say shit about their girlfriends either."
"Then i guess we arent friends anymore!" Jackson hollers at Sam. Honestly, i am so lost. All i know is that Jackson said something about me that Sam didnt like.
"I guess not!"
Jackson shakes his head, clearly frustrated, and storms out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
"Will someone please tell me what is going on between you two?" Jackie asks, looking at Sam.
"Yeah, i want to know too," I say.
"Its nothing," Is all that he said.
"It sure didnt look like nothing," Jackie points out.
"Well it is!" Sam snaps, "And i really dont want to talk about him right now."
Sam lays back down on the hospital bed and closes his eyes. I think hes tired.
"Im sorry, Sami," Jackie says, giving Sam another hug.
"Can you please go? Im tired."
At first Jackie looks hurt, but then she leaves without saying anything else.
"Well, i guess ill see you later, then?" i tell him and start heading for the door.
"No, Lex, dont leave. Please, stay with me."
I turn around and he is looking at me, his eyes are glossy.
"Sure. Whatever you want, Sami."
I sit back down in the chair beside his bed.
And before long the only noises i hear are the beeping from his machines and his quiet snores. Im still sitting in the chair because Sam said he didnt want me to leave him.
Ive been sitting and watching him closely. I have noticed every little thing about him. The steady way that his chest moves up and down. How his lips always part when he is asleep. And how his eyelids flutter slightly, and his fingers will twitch every once in while.
God he is so freaking gorgeous. I honestly dont even know what my life would be like without him in it. It would be boring, definately.
What would have happened if Sams mom hadnt of found him in time? Would he be dead right now? Would he be remembered by our classmates, or be slowly forgotten over time?
I know i can never forget Sami Tucker. It would be a shame for anyone who did.
I reach for Sams hand and entwine mine with his. I lean in close to his ear and whisper, "I love you, Sami Tucker."
Im listening to my ipod when Sams mom walks into the room.
She looks at me then walks over to her son, who is still asleep.
I take out an earbud.
"How long has he been asleep?" she asks me.
I glance at the clock, "Fifteen minutes, maybe," i tell her.
She gently shakes him awake.
"What?" he whines, his eyes still closed. He pushes his mothers hands away from him.
"Sami, wake up, now. You need to get up."
"Stop. I dont wanna."
"If you dont wake up right now, then im going to take away your Xbox when we get home."
Sam opens his eyes, he cracks a boyish grin at his mother.
"No you wont," he tells her.
"Yes i will. Now take your medicine and shut up."
Sam giggles. His mom hands him two pills she got from the pill bottle beside his bed.
He drops them on his tongue and downs a glass of water.
His mom smoothes Sams hair back from his forehead and bends down to kiss his forehead, "I love you so much, honey."
