"Mrs. Merrhit?" Sam speaks up. Him and i are sitting on the picnic table outside and my mom is sitting across from Sami and beside Jessica.
Its our second day at Geneva Lake, Monday, and we've all pretty much been taking a lazy day today.
Its lunch time and everyone is eating hotdogs that my dad had grilled over the firepit.
"Sami," my mother responds, "ive told you plenty of times to not call me Mrs. Merrhit. It makes me feel old."
"Okay," and without a second thought, Sam says, "Mom, can i take Lexi to go fishing today?"
My mother looks shocked at first but quickly gets over it and stands up from her seat. She walks around the table and, surprising both him and me, wraps her arms around him in a hug.
"You sure can, sweetheart," and she has this really big grin on her face as she says this. She then bends down slightly and gives Sam a kiss to the top of his head. What the heck just happened?
Sam quickly gets over the surprise and hops up out of his seat, "Okay, thanks!" he walks away to go get the fishing poles and bait, im assuming.
"That boy is too cute for his own good," my mother says when Sam is out of earshot, "You better hold onto him, real tight."
I give my mom an odd look, but before i can say anything Sam comes back with two poles and a bucket that my dad had filled with worms.
"Come on, Lexi," he says to me.
I cant help but grin at Sams eager expression. He must be real excited to go fishing, or hang out with me.
I stand up from the bench and grab the two fishing poles from Sam, wanting to help him carry something.
"We'll be back before its dark," he tells my mother.
"Alright sweetheart. You two have fun."
As we start walking away i see both my mom and Jessica smiling widely at me. I just roll my eyes at them and turn around, following Sami.
I follow Sam along the road headed to the lake. Its not that long of a walk, thank God. Maybe ten minutes or so.
There is a long strip of land that protrudes into the lake, and thats where Sam and i decide to fish at. There is nobody near us.
The closest people to us is a group of young girls who are maybe two hundred feet away on a different strip of land.
I cant help but notice that all three girls are taking turns glancing over at us, i bet they're ogling over my hot and sexy boyfriend. Yup, thats probably it.
Sam baits my hook for me, "You're so sweet," i say in a teasing manner.
He grins at me and shakes his head and continues to bait his own hook.
I go over to the waters edge and cast my line into the water. Then i find a nice smooth rock to sit on.
Soon Sam comes over next to me, throws his line out, much farther out than mine, and sits down on the rock beside me.
Those three girls are still sneaking glances at Sam, and its kind of starting to irritate me.
"Those girls over there are starting to get real annoying," i whisper into Sams ear, because sound travels and i dont want them to hear me.
"How come?" he asks, completely blind to the fact that they probably find him attractive if they keep on looking over here.
"You're so oblivious. They obviously find you hot enough to look over here every five seconds."
