*Emily's POV*
I lost my friggin' diary. Of course that's a good way to start a trip. Losing something. After a while of walking I found a suitable hotel to stay at. I am a bit fussy on how I do things. As I walk in I'm not particularly amazed by the lobby. The lady at the desk looks a bit nasty. Yet, I still walk up.
"A double room please," I say as politely as I can.
"Sure" she says in a sickly sweet voice with a New Jersey accent. She hands me a key and says "Third floor."
I head to the elevator when a big read sign appears and says "out of order please use the stairs." I just grumble too angry to even cuss under my breath. Walking up the three flights of stairs with three really heavy suitcases led me to just fall on my bed. After I regained my breath I got up to look out the window. My breath was taken from me again. The view was astonishing. It was nearly dark already and all the lights were on. It's like Los Angeles is a big christmas tree with hundreds of lights on it. After gazing out the window longingly I get my laptop out to see if it's not too early to call my family. It is six-thirty here and ten-thirty in the morning there. I'm to tired to call them. I type a message into the chat box instead: Hey guys, the plane ride was a little jumpy but we still landed at LAX. The airport is so big!! I am messaging you from the hotel I'm staying at. It's not something special but it isn't dodgy so don't worry. Love you all, Emily.
It's nearly seven when I start thinking about dinner. I hop up from my bed to get the phone you order room service with when I hear a buzzing from my back pocket. I pull out my phone to see who is texting me. It's Matthew.
Unknown number:
Hey Em, It's Matt, u have anything planned 4 dinner 2night?
Emily B:
Nup. U wanna cum ovr?
Unknown Number:
K. Should we get rm serv.?
Emily B:
Dnt know wht else we'd hve ;)
Unknown Number:
See u in 10.
I toss my phone onto my bed and start rummaging through my suitcases, looking for something cute to wear. I find my black lacy top and floral skirt. They are my favourite things to wear when I need something cute but not OTT. I light a couple of the candles there are in the room and tidy up my suitcases and shove them in the closet. I leave out my laptop, phone and make-up. I quickly take my make-up to the bathroom and apply a bit of eye-liner, mascara, foundation and lightly spray myself with perfume. Just as I put away the make-up I hear a knock on the door. I flatten my skirt as I half run, half skip to the door. I softly pull it open and I see a cute blonde face smiling at me.
"Hi Emily," was all he said and I instantly felt like pulling him in and kissing him. The only thing that kept me from doing so was inexperience. I am twenty-years old and have never kissed anyone except for my family. It's pathetic and I know it.
"Hey Matthew, how ya doin'?"I said while doing jazz hands. I felt like slapping myself. How ya doin?? With jazz hands!!! What's wrong with me?
"Pretty good, thanks,"was all he said. Phew, I don't think he noticed the stupidity of the one and only me.
"What did you have in mind for tonight?" I asked, trying not to sound like I just realized I did something ridiculously dumb.
"Maybe hotdogs?"
"Sounds good!" I said while skipping off to the phone.
"Am I allowed in?" Matthew asked with what I think was genuine curiosity.
"Oh yes, of course, sorry" I half mumbled. I think I have a speech impairment.
He caustiously walked in and took a seat by my bed. There were hundreds of butterflies in my stomach when I called room service I could barely say 'two hotdogs both with sauce and mustard'. After the call was over I walked over and took the seat beside him. Instead of looking confident I just sat looking down and twiddling my fingers. He goes to ask something but then backs out of it. We sit in awkward silence until room service comes in.
"Hotdogs?" she asks in a thick accent. I don't think I will ever get used to the way Americans talk.
Matthew jumps up and says "Yes. Thank you very much," and carefully takes the hotdogs from her.
"Mmm mmm" I say. (not sure if say is the proper word for it :P). As we sit eating our hotdogs I look at him. He looks like he's pretty hungry the way he's eating. It's kinda funny. When we finish and put our plates in the bin (they were only plastic) Matthew asks if I wanna go out some where as it isn't even eight yet. I agree and asked what should we do. He suggested a movie.
"Perfect!" I said.
As I locked the door I asked "What movie should we see and where?"
All he said was "You'll see."
As we left the hotel Matthew hailed a taxi.
"Have you been to America before?" I asked.
"What makes you say that?" He replied as we got in the cab.
"The way you know what to do," I answered.
Before he said anything to me he asked the driver if there were any DVD hire stores around.
"Yes, would you like me to take you there?" The driver queried.
"Yes please." We said in unison. As Matthew sat back down in his seat he said "I know because I do my research." I just laughed "So it's the cheap date option eh? Go out and hire a movie then go back to the hotel room and watch it. Real smooth," I added sarcastically.
Within five minutes we arrived at the DVD store. I asked if he could wait for us as we'll only be a minute. He agreed so Matthew and I ran into the shop and I saw a movie that I have wanted to watch for quite a while.
"How about Rock of Ages?" I asked
"Sure," He replied.
We got the movie out and got back in the cab. Before I knew it we were back in front of the Break Side Hotel and Matthew gave the driver twenty bucks before getting out. We entered and went to Matthew's room this time. I got on the bed as he put in the DVD. He got the remote and jumped on beside me.
