It's A Long Way To Go

Chapter 7

*Emily's POV*

I slept in for ages this morning. I didn't get up till eleven o'clock. For some reason jet lag has decided to rest upon me now! I get up and into my black crop-top and dark red skirt. I don't know if any where serves breakfast now. I suppose I better buy some plastic bowls and a little box of cereal from the supermarket. I half sleepwalk down the stairs. I wish they had a working elevator. When I reach the bottom I slowly push the door open and hail a cab. I ask to go to the nearest supermarket. I'm there in two minutes which is good. I find the cereal and a little carton of milk pretty quickly but it takes me quite a bit longer to find any plastic bowls. I eventually do though. It only cost eight dollars which was a bargain.

Once I was back again I started eating my cornflakes, I put the milk in the minibar and the cereal and bowls on the bench. When I think about it I haven't had cornflakes in ages. Their golden crunchy goodness is so.......good! I finish it pretty quickly though. I'm getting a little sick of this hotel to be honest. I might move to a hostel and I can meet more people there anyway. In fact I might do that today.

I grab out my phone and text Matthew.

To:Matthew

From:Emmybabe

Hey am thinking about checking out of hotel and moving to a hostel. u game?

I press send and patiently wait for a reply. I eventually hear a tweet from my phone.

To:Emmybabe

Yeah sure. u wanna pack now and meet eachotha @ lobby?

To:Matthew

From:Emmybabe

Yep. c u soon!

I jump up from my hanging upside-down from the end of my bed position and start stuffing my bag with all my clothes and a couple of the complimentary shampoos, conditioners and moisturisers. Every little bit helps.

*Matthew's POV*

I start madly packing up my stuff that has been sprawled along the floor. I am so glad Emily texted me to see if I wanted to move with her. This hotel will become exspensive anyway if I stay too long. Fifty bucks becomes a hundred bucks a hundred bucks becomes two hundred bucks and so on. I scan every bit of my room three times to make sure I haven't forgotten anything. Nope it's fine I have everything I need.

I drag my suitcases down the stairs. There are heaps of people in the lobby for some reason. Eitherway there is still a couch free so I plop myself down on to it. I only get a few seconds rest because I see Emily struggling down the stairs with two suitcases and a duffel bag.

"Wow, are you moving your entire room?!" I say teasingly.

"Maybe, maybe not," Emily says with a cheeky smile on her face.

Once she puts her stuff down I pull her in and kiss her. Not full on but you know, an actual kiss. She smiles up at me and says,

"Ready to go?"

"If you are I am," I smile at her.

We push through all the people to get to the counter. 

"Checking out for room 3B and 3F please," I say casually as if no one is digging me in the back.

"Ok that is two hundred dollars altogether," the lady at the counter says while typing something into the computer.

I put down one hundred dollars and so does Emily. When we get out of the crowd of people I put Em's duffel bag on like a back pack, grab my two suitcases and head for the door.

"Wait for me!" Emily yells while trying to get both of her suitcases.

"Well hurry up then," I smirk at her.

When she gets her gear properly sorted she runs after me and the elbows me in the ribs.

"Ow, what was that for?" I ask pretending I had no idea.

"You know," she scowled at me.

I put my two suitcases in one hand and put my free arm around her back and said "I'm sorry," kissing her on the head after.

"Apology accepted, just," she said while trying to keep herself from laughing, "I think we'll need two taxis or one really big one for all this stuff."

"Let's just get two. What Hostel?" I ask.

"It's called StayON Beverly on Beverly Boulevard."

"Ok, see you there," I said.

I gave Emily her duffel bag and walked to the curb. I hailed a taxi pretty quickly and loaded my stuff into the trunk.

"StayON Beverly Hostel please," I say to the driver.

He nods and starts driving. I hope Emily hasn't found it too hard to get a taxi. Within ten minutes we arrive out the front. I pay the driver and get my suitcases out of the boot. The hostel looks quite nice. I walk in and see there are quite a few people. Not as many as the previous hotel but still quite a few people just hanging out. I sit on a free couch with my bags at my feet patiently waiting for Emily to come through the door. After ten minutes of waiting I started to get nervous. After fifteen I got seriously worried. I grabbed my phone out and texted Emily.

To:Em

From:Matty

Hey, where r u?? gettin worried :(

I hit send and anxiously wait. Before I get a reply a girl comes up to me and asks,

"Hi I'm Jasmine, are you alright because you look seriously freaked out man."

"I am a bit nervous to be honest because I was meant to meet my girlfriend here like ten minutes ago and she hasn't showed up or texted me or anthing. I have just texted her." I say with a distressed look on my face, "I'm Matthew by the way," extending my hand.

She shakes it and says,

"Nice to meet you. If she doesn't turn up in ten minutes my friends and I will be over there," she points over to where two girls are standing, "I have a feeling you're a kiwi so I'm happy to lend a hand," she smiled at me.

"Cheers," I say to her.

She walks back over to her friends and rejoins the group discussion. I continue worrying about Emily. While I was talking to Jasmine I didn't realise my phone went off. I checked it and saw a message.

To: Matthew

Hey sorry I'm late I had to walk a bit to get a taxi. Only two minutes away. Luv u.

A huge wave of relief passes over me. She will be here soon. I was so worried something bad happened to her. I couldn't live with myself if she got lost or kidnapped. I heard a car pull up at the front of the hostel. As I see Emily struggle in I leap up and hug her and kiss her on the fore head.

"Woah I wasn't gone that long was I?" she asked confused by all the hugging and kissing.

"To me you were gone forever," I said still hugging and kissing her.

Jasmine and her friends came over.

"She's arrived by the looks aye Matthew," she said smiling at me.

"Yeah. Em this is Jasmine and her friends who I haven't been introduced to yet," I tell Emily.

"Hi everyone," Emily says waving her hand.

"Emily, Matthew this is Chloe," Jasmine says pointing at the blonde girl with glasses, "and this is Quinn,' pointing to the half-maori girl.

"Hi," Emily and I both say in sync.

Aww Emily and Matthew have new friends and they have kissed!!! What a beautiful chapter!! JK :P.

Don't get used to me writing long chapters because you might find some that aren't that short but they seem short compared to some of my other ones.
