It's A Long Way To Go

Chapter 5

*Emily's POV*

I grab some clothes and go to the bathroom to get dressed. When I look at myself in the mirror I can see eyeliner smudged around my eyes. Before I get changed I put make-up remover on my face and rub really hard so I can get it off. My face bacomes red and splotchy since i've rubbed so hard. I get changed into my high-waisted shorts and my fluoro tank top. When I leave the bathroom Matthew wakes up when I shut the door behind me.

"Good Morning sleeping beauty," I say teasingly

"Your the sleeping beauty, you are the one who fell asleep before the movie even ended," he says matter of factly.

"Well i'm sorry you woke up grumpy Mr. Cranky Pants."

"Cranky pants, really?"

"Yup."

"Do you want to go to a cafe for breakfast?"

"Sure thing, although you may want to get changed into something less crinkled up."

"Ok, I'll meet you down stairs in five. See ya!"

"Bye!" I said "love you," I added to myself.

As he left I started jumping on my bed for joy. Two dates over a twenty-four hour period. I am doing so well!!

It's a nice day so what I'm wearing's fine but just to take precautions though I bring my orange jersey. I run out the door almost forgetting to lock it. Once I lock the door I sprint down the stairs to see if I have beaten him down. All I see is a smirking Matthew.

*Matthew's POV*

I hear a thumping from the stairs. It's probably Emily. When the thumping ends at the bottom of the stairs I see an expectant Emily's head poke around the wall. I just smirk at her and stand up with my arm out. She just shrugs and skips over to me and puts her arm through mine. As we walk out the door she rests her head on my shoulder. It feels like we're going out. I don't think we are officially anyway. When we reach the little cafe we're having breakfast at  Emily immediately sits down outside.

"You can go order while I save our seats," Emily says to me.

"Fine, what do ya want?" I ask.

"A salmon bagel please," she says delicately.

"Alright," I ask trying to sound indifferent.

I walk in to the little room towards the cash register. 

"Hi," the guy at the counter says.

"Hey, can I get a salmon bagel and a medium eggs benedict?" I say.

"Sure thing, That's twenty-four dollars."

"Here you go," I say as I place the cash on the table.

"It'll be ready in a few minutes."

I nod my head and walk out. I sit opposite Emily. I smile at her. I wonder if I should ask if we are boyfriend/girlfriend or just friends. I don't want to make things awkward I just want to know.

"So....I just wanna ask something. I don't want to make anything weird between us, but, are we sorta goin out?" I ask feeling majorly insecure.

"Oh my gosh I've been waiting for you to ask. Of course!!" she said really happily.

"Oh good cause I've felt kinda weird about it."

"Yea.."

Emily gets cut off by a waitress coming out saying,  "A salmon bagel and eggs benedict?"

"Yes that's us," Emily says while giving the waitress five dollars.

I forgot about tipping. When we got the food I started eating straight away. I was so hungry. Emily was staring at me strangely. 

"Oh sorry, I'm just really hungry," I say while stuffing my face.

She just shrugs and starts eating. When we finished we stood up. Emily leaned in and she kissed me on the check then said "Bye Matthew, See ya later,"

"Bye, Em." That's gonna be my new nickname for her.
