It was a mistake to move here. Of that I was sure. Yet as I stared out at the rising sun, shining behind the mountains I couldn't help but reason that something good must come out of living in a place so beautiful. Suddenly, a breeze with a distinctive chill blew past me shutting the notion out of my mind. Things were definitely not going to be okay.

"Blair come inside and eat your breakfast! It's your first day at your new school and you don't want to be late. It's best to make a good first impression." My mother called from somewhere in the house.

"Coming!" I yelled as I walked back in through the front door. Our new house was a bit ostentatious if you asked me. No one really needs fifty acres of land when they plan on spending zilch time actually in their home. I walked in the kitchen and grabbed a bowl of cherrios. At least some things will stay the same I thought as I took my bowl to my room and blasted All-American Rejects from my ancient cd player. Cheerios and music are all I could ask for in life at the moment.I ate my breakfast and got ready unable to shake this feeling of dread off my shoulders as I headed off to my first day at Chriton Prep.

My faded jeans and black tank were average attire in my book. But here it stuck out like a sore thumb among the blue and white plaided students staring at me. Seriously? Is there only one shade of plaid for private schools? I wondered as everyone stared at me as I tried to find my way through the maze of hallways to the principle's office.

"Need help?" asked a voice from behind me. I turned around and was stunned by the beauty of this guy standing in front of me. I know it’s not right to call a guy beautiful but that’s all I could think of as I stared into his deep green eyes and thanked God for sending an angel to save me. An extremely hot angel.

"Haha h-how could you tell?" I stuttered, trying to focus on what I had been looking for before he had shown up.

"The confused look mixed with the slight irritation kind of gave you away" He chucked which made the corner's of his eyes crinkle.

"Hmm well I guess I'll have to work on that look then....as soon as I find the principal’s office."

"Here since it's on the way to my first period I'll just show you. Sound good?"

"Yeah, that sounds good, thanks." I smiled trying to disguise the intense feeling of happiness I was feeling. I don't think I fooled him though because his smile just grew wider as we began walking down the hall again.

            "I'm Trey by the way."

            "Blair."

"Blair...hmm that's an uncommon name. I like it. It's different." I just smiled in return, unable to think of anything witty to say so we just kept walking. If I thought the stares I had recieved while walking lost through the school were bad. The stares I received now were atrocious. Everyone's faces were displaying a different emotion: Admiration, Surprise, Pride, Disgust, Jealousy, and Resentment. But the look that caught my eye came from a guy standing in the corner by the lockers.

He was dressed in the standard uniform that everyone else was wearing so he should have faded into the sea of blue plaid just like everyone else. Yet somehow I couldn't help but notice him out of the crowd. His hair was jet black and hung just over his eyes. He looked like he was reading a book while some blonde girl blabbed in his ear. Trey began to say something but I didn't hear because at that exact moment the guy slammed his book shut and looked up directly at me. I was stunned but slightly ashamed that he had caught me staring at him but I still couldn't look away. He seemed to be sizing me up as his eyes continued their penetrating stare but not in a way that I was used to. Not the look a guy gives a girl before he decides to find some way to screw her. This was something different.
