I peeked through the canopy of branches and saw that the sky was starting to darken so I let the others know. "Guys, it's going to be night soon. I think we should stop and set up camp."
"Good idea." Replied Ned, then we all started to unpack some supplies.
"Do you think it will rain?" Asked Gina, who was grabbing some food out of her bag. I shook my head. The sky looked quite clear and it was pretty warm so I'd say it wasn't going to rain.
In no time, we had our sleeping bags laid out, a fire and dinner on the way. Our meal was made up of some beef stew out of a can, which we were heating up over the fire and some toasted bread. We all finished dinner quickly and quietly then crawled into our sleeping bags.
We all agreed that we would all take turns keeping watch and Ned volunteered to go first along side Coco. My sleeping bag was next to Calem's and Ben's. I whispered goodnight to Calem, then turned over to face Ben. He looked really tired so I kissed him goodnight before falling asleep myself.
"Susan, wake up." I opened my eyes to see Gina in front of me. She must have swapped with Ned already for night watch. Now it was my turn. I told Gina to get a good rest, then got up to sit by the fire, which was still going. Soft snores came from the others as I glanced at my surrounding.
The trees danced in the cool breeze. They had slim, smooth trunks with light green leaves. I couldn't put my finger on what type of tree they were but they were very pretty.
An owl looked down at me with big eyes then gave a loud hoot and flew off. I kept scanning the trees for any others signs of life when my eyes wondered onto something more interesting.
Another camera was perched on the trunk of a tree to my right. We could've walked right past a million cameras on our way here and we didn't even notice.
Then I heard a loud snap. I shook it off, thinking it could just be a rabbit or a figment of my imagination when I heard it again. It was much louder this time and it sounded like it was getting closer. It definitely wasn't a rabbit.
A few more snaps and I'd had enough. "Who's there?" I spoke with a threatening tone.
"What's wrong?" This was from Ben, who'd gotten up from all the racket. He was making his way towards me when they emerged from behind the trees.
Eight humans, in a perfect circle around our camp, were coming towards us. Then they all stopped. They each looked exactly the same. They had black material covering all of their faces except for their eyes and nose.
They also had some lethal looking bows and arrows pointed straight at us.
I moved back so I was next to Ben when one of them said something.
"Don't move." He said. It sounded like a man.
"Don't move if you value your life."
